<description><![CDATA[<p> <img src="http://www.jaunted.com/files/14943/jalhkitty.jpg" class="top"> <p> The carriers over in Japan just can&#146;t get enough of wacky airplane liveries and specialty paint jobs, and that&#146;s fine with us because we can&#146;t stop talking about them. <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/jal"><B>Japan Airlines</b></a> is the latest to reveal a fresh look, and <b>it&#146;s a brand new tribute to the Hello Kitty empire</b>. <p> It&#146;s not just all fun either, as <b>this latest color scheme (for this plane only) is hanging around to bring recognition and awareness about cervical cancer</b>. Japan Airlines, TOKYO FM, and Sanrio are all joining forces as part of the "Hellosmile Project." The plan is to support prevention programs with the plane&#151;it&#146;s a Boeing 777 with the registration number JA8941&#151;as it flies in and around Japan and the globe for the next year or so. ]]>                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               </description>

<title>Air New Zealand Paints Their Itty-Bittiest Plane All Black</title>

<description><![CDATA[<P><img src="http://www.jaunted.com/files/6193/BeechyNZ.jpg" class="top"> <P>YES&#151;another all-black plane has taken to the skies. For the third time, <b><a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/air new zealand">Air New Zealand</a></b> is honoring the country's rugby team&#151;the All Blacks&#151;with an aircraft painted in the team colors, which would be all black (plus a little white and gray to form the fern of the team logo). <P>The first AirNZ plane to get the treatment was a <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2010/9/23/13613/0926/travel/Is+a+Black+Airplane+Hard+to+See+at+Night%3F+Ask+Air+New+Zealand">Airbus A320</a>, then they upgraded to repainting a <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2011/12/18/234011/74/travel/Ninja+Plane%3F+This+Air+New+Zealand+777+Gets+Painted+Jet+Black">Boeing 777</a>. <title>So Cool: ANA Threw a Special Plane Party at Tokyo-Haneda</title>

<description><![CDATA[<P><img src="http://www.jaunted.com/files/6193/ANAlieryparty.jpg" class="top"> <P>Okay, this is just plain amazing. <P>On Christmas Eve, Japanese airline <b><a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/ana">ANA</a></b> managed to get all of their airplanes sporting special livery into <b><a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/hnd">Tokyo-Haneda Airport</a></b> at the same time, parked at gates one after the other. The planning and background teamwork behind making an event like this happen in staggering; we only wish ANA had devoted more than a <a href="http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150500783595536.386886.43613800535&type=1">small Facebook photoset</a> to the day. <P>Stars of the tarmac on December 24 were the <b>Pokémon 747s</b>, the <b><a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/787">787 Dreamliners</a></b>, the retro livery, Star Alliance livery and even more. <P>Just imagine if <b><a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/southwest">Southwest Airlines</a></b> tried something like this. There'd be an Orca whale landing, followed by the <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2010/4/23/92140/6538/travel/Southwest+Shows+They%27re+Psyched+for+Summer+with+New+%27Florida+One%27+Plane">state of Florida</a>, followed by <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2009/2/11/14123/7711/travel/Bar+Refaeli+Touches+Down+In+Bikini%27d+Southwest+Plane">Bar Refaeli in a bikini</a> (wait, is that plane still flying?). <P>Anyway, awesome job, ANA. Not the new stuff.</i> <p> Japan's <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/ana"><B>All Nippon Airways</b></a> has been quick to create some fancy new liveries and paint jobs for their fleet of brandy new <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/787"><B>Boeing 787 Dreamliners</b></a>. However, the painters and workers in the hangars are still hard at work, as it looks like <b>they&#146;ll be using yet another special paint scheme for their latest deliveries</b>. <p> As ANA gets some more and more new planes they&#146;ll mix up the liveries just a little bit. The fresh batch of Dreamliners&#151;these are the ones that will likely be the first to hit the nifty fifty&#151;will still have &#147;787&#148; scrolled across the side, but the colors will be more aligned with the traditional ANA designs. <title>Ninja Plane? This Air New Zealand 777 Gets Painted Jet Black</title>

<description><![CDATA[<P><img src="http://www.jaunted.com/files/6193/Allblack777b.jpg" class="top"> <P>If a black airplane lands at night, do you even see it land at all? Okay that was kinda stupid, but all words pale in comparison to the awesomeness of the newest <b><a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/777">Boeing 777-300ER</a></b></b> to be delivered to fun-loving <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/air%20new%20zealand">Air New Zealand</a></b>. It's the <b>All Blacks-edition jet</b>, the second plane in AirNZ's fleet to be outfitted in the black livery that's an ode to the rugby team All Blacks. One could even say the color is <i>jet</i> black. <P>The 777 is fresh off the Boeing assembly line in Everett, WA and lucky to start its life as the pimpest-looking plane in the sky. It's actually the largest plane painted noir, as the old <a href="http://justplanehistory.blogspot.com/2009/11/playboy-jet-big-bunny.html">Playboy DC-9</a> is long gone and AirNZ's other black metal is the smaller <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2010/9/23/13613/0926/travel/Is+a+Black+Airplane+Hard+to+See+at+Night%3F+Ask+Air+New+Zealand">Airbus A320</a>, confined to domestic itineraries. But this baby&#151;this one with its three classes (four if you count the <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2011/1/3/155831/4934/travel/Economy+Kama+Sutra%3A+We+Take+Air+New+Zealand%27s+New+%27SkyCouch%27+for+a+Test+Nap">Skycouch</a>)&#151;this one is also flying further, like to LAX and London from Auckland.]]>                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              </description>

<title>This Airplane Has a Movember Mustache</title>

<description><![CDATA[<P><img src="http://www.jaunted.com/files/6193/MovemQ3.jpg" class="top"> <P>In the only bit of positive news from <b><a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/qantas">Qantas</a></b> this month, <b>the airline has painted a mustache on one of its Boeing 737s</b>. The mustache is to show Qantas' support for <b>Movember</b> and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. "Movember" has, over the last few years, become more and more popular around the world as a time for guys to grow a mustache to draw attention to prostate cancer. It's essentially the male version of women wearing pink during Breast Cancer Awareness month (which was October). <P>The Movember cause hits close to home for Qantas, as CEO Alan Joyce is a survivor of prostate cancer. His was discovered and treated, but he notes: "if it weren't for early detection, there is every chance I would have been dead within 10 years." ]]>                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            </description>

New airlines are popping up like pimples on prom night. AirAsia's got <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2011/7/19/7128/87643/travel/AirAsia+Hearts+ANA%2C+and+Both+Heart+Bringing+Cheap+Flights+to+Japan">AirAsia Japan</a> and <a href="http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5hb0Rt4jA8i4tg5d2uBnmP5NfBKNg?docId=CNG.209ec9a2ad059c4ffb6b615044e67c53.541">Caterham Jet</a>, Qantas is toying with <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2011/9/18/202058/425/travel/What+is+%27RedQ%27+and+What%27s+Qantas+Got+to+Do+With+It%3F">RedQ</a> and Singapore wants to <a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2011/11/3/12275/0052/travel/Today+We+Learn+Even+More+About+Scoot%2C+Asia%27s+Next+Budget+Airline">Scoot</a>. Oh, <b><a href="http://www.jaunted.com/tag/ana">ANA</a></b> (aka home of the first 787s) wants in one the game too, and they're launched a cute little airline called "<b>Peach</b>." <P>Peach is really happening, as they've just taken delivery of their first actual plane, a leased Airbus A320 painted in some hot pink and fuchsia livery. <b>March 2012 is the projected go-time for Peach</b>, which is based at Osaka's Kansai International Airport and planning to fly from KIX to domestic spots like Fukuoka and Sapporo, with international routes to follow.]]>                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     </description>
