Santa Monica: Buy a Piece of Oceanic Flight 815 During the Massive LOST Auction

Are you still mourning the loss the of the tv show that made "Oceanic Flight 815" a household name? Even though LOST officially ended its six-season run back in May, the show is about to re-surface...too bad it's only in pieces.

On August 21-22, Santa Monica's Barker Airport Hanger will host an auction of over 1,000 items from the filming of LOST, including everything from the DHARMA Initiative's VW bus to complete outfits worn on screen by the cast. Whether or not you're interested in buying (the majority of the lots are valued in the $100s), the hanger will hold an exhibition of the items—like pop-up LOST museum—on the two days from 9am to 1pm, with entrance tickets costing $42. That also gets you in to watch or participate in the auction too, in case you're curious to see how much a 6-pack of DHARMA beer goes for.

HI: LOST Isn't Over Yet; You Can Still Visit Their Filming Locations in Hawaii

The series finale of LOST happened last night, and if you’re a fan then today will be spent discussing the show over the watercooler. After a few days, you’ll finally settle upon some conclusion as to what it all means, and that's when you'll need something else to replace your love for the passengers aboard Oceanic flight 815.

If there’s no other television show to fill the gap in your life, you can always head to Hawaii to see where the whole show was filmed. There’s plenty of tour companies that will be happy to take you and your crew around Oahu to see various filming locations from the show. This idea is best for those who look forward to the lush scenery on the show just as much as the drama.

HI: The Loss of LOST Might Mean the Rise of Hawaii

Dear fans of LOST, don't pout because you're only several more episodes away from the end of the final season of your show, because the cast members sure aren't worrying. In fact, they're already on the look out for the next gig, and Daniel Dae Kim is the first to find post-LOST success as he's already signed on to play Detective Chin Ho Kelly in the upcoming remake of the late 1960s detective drama series Hawaii Five-O.

So what does this mean for travel? Well for one, it means that couch potatoes are going see the beautiful beaches and vistas of Hawaii when the series airs eventually, and that's some serious subliminal messaging. This will trickle down to hopefully help the tourism end of Hawaii's economy which struggled majorly during the recession and still needs a boast in the bottom.

Book A Seat On LOST's Doomed Oceanic Flight 815

Anticipating next week's kickoff of Lost Season 6, the programmers at travel metasearch engine Kayak have buried a Lost-related easter egg deep in their site. If you've ever yearned to crack open the secrets to the Dharma Initiative—or not, as the case may be—you now have a chance to book a seat on Oceanic Flight 815, the route that began the entire mind-bending adventure. Via Mashable, all you have to do is punch in the right settings, hit Kayak's "Search" button, and an option for the self-evidently bad idea appears.

You can't really book the reservation, of course. Trying to lock it in will take you to a Lost Wikipedia entry on the doomed trans-Pacific flight. But it's still a nice little timewaster, especially if you're an obsessed fan. To unlock the easter egg, plug in a request for a SYD-LAX flight like you normally would. It has to be a one-way flight and the day has to be set for September 22, 2010, the series having aired for the first time on September 22, 2004. The price of the ticket is $4839 so you might want to sort by reverse price order after you get the results. If you've done everything right and you look down a couple rows, there it will be.

This week, it's the big season finale. We have a few spoilers, so don't read any further if you are playing catch-up with your Tivo. Will the Island blow-up? Will Juliet and Sawyer sail off into the sunset in that tin can submarine? Will they ever stop creating more questions? Doubtful. The finale spends a lot of time introducing us to the legendary Jacob -- who looks like any other random guy on the island. The thing is, he keeps showing up in everyone's lives at different points. Everybody has met Jacob at some point in their journey. With all that travel, we sure hope he's banking all those frequent flier miles.

This week, we get lots of action and less head scratching. We're finally getting some answers, kinda. Last episode, Eloise shot her son, Daniel Faraday, not knowing that he was her son and also from the future. Jack and Kate get dragged into camp, and try to explain their preposterous story -- which Eloise believes. Richard Alpert busies himself at the top of the episode by building a model ship in a bottle. This week, LOST drops a couple of big bombs, like how Eloise Hawking is Daniel Faraday's mother, and that Charles Widmore is his dad. We can't think of a worse parental combination. So, if it's true, this would mean that Penny Widmore is Faraday's half sister. The episode is titled The Variable, which is a reference to the human beings on the island. The equations remain true, it's the variables that change the outcome.

There are a couple of flashbacks that take us back to Oxford after Faraday has graduated. He and Eloise grab lunch at a local Indian restaurant near campus. If you're in the neighborhood and in the mood for some great Indian food, we found this handy list over at In Oxford Magazine.
