If we've learned one new thing about Kevin Smith in the last year of so, it's that he is not a big fan of flying. It makes him uncomfortable (because of his weight), impatient, and it even made him give up for a period and buy a bus. However, slowly but surely he's coming round to things, starting after he lost 65 pounds and again easily fit into a standard airline seat.

Another factor aiding in winning back Smith to air travel? In-Flight WiFi, as he tweeted his pleasure with it over the weekend:

True, Kevin. That did sound like an ad, but it's the gosh darn truth. Frankly, we're just happy to see someone once jaded, now back up in the skies and—gasp—enjoying it thanks to the modern technology.

Can you believe it? It's been nearly one full year since Kevin Smith got kicked off a Southwest flight for being too fat to fit in a seat, and as we're all quite aware, a lot can happen in a year. Smith's year was eventful, as he first bought a bus to avoid the embarrassment of flying, and then missed a Virgin America flight not because of his weight, but because he was too damned late.

Kevin Smith had another run-in with an airline this week, and this time he didn't even make it onto the plane.

Even though Kevin Smith was kicked off a Southwest plane for being "too fat" back in February, he's not letting that keep him stranded in L.A. The actor/director is taking his weekly Smodcast podcast, which he hosts with his producing partner Scott Mosieron, on tour later this month.

He recently took to Twitter (where his rant against Southwest originated) to explain how he's been getting to gigs since the incident. "In our divorce, they got the sky, I got the ground. Now I roam the Earth in a bus," he told one of his followers. The debate over what to do with overweight passengers on flights flared up dramatically last week when film director Kevin Smith was booted from a Southwest Airlines flight on account of his...umm...girth that required more than one seat. In response to the understandably embarrassing incident, Smith lashed out on Twitter against the airline, even though he was eventually accommodated.

But we're going to call bullshit on some of this. The one thing that really caught us when we first heard the news was the fact that Smith went straight to Twitter, and not to Southwest customer service at the airport or over the phone. Director Kevin Smith (Mallrats, Clerks, Cop Out) has a warning for fellow fatties, "IF YOU LOOK LIKE ME, YOU MAY BE EJECTED FROM @SOUTHWESTAIR".

Smith was asked to get off a flight from Oakland to Burbank, CA on Saturday for being a security risk, aka too fat. True to form, Smith Tweeted the entire escapade, explaining:

I flew out in one seat, but right after issuing me a standby ticket, Oakland Southwest attendant Suzanne (wouldn't give last name) told me Captain Leysath deemed me a 'safety risk.' Again: I'm way fat... But I'm not THERE just yet. But if I am, why wait til my bag is up, and I'm seated WITH ARM RESTS DOWN. In front of a packed plane with a bunch of folks who'd already I.d.ed me as Silent Bob.

For comic fanatics who can’t wait for The Big One next summer, New York Comic Con is just around the corner. The annual convention will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center February 6-8 and will feature the usual fair of movie previews, autograph signings, comic books and collectibles.

The full line up of guests and honorees hasn’t been released yet but they have confirmed Bruce Timm will premiere the new animated version of "Wonder Woman," which is worth the price of admission for any true comic geek.
