Dieters have the cookie jar. Spendthrifts have the Target sale. And this weekend, Kanye West and Lindsay Lohan proved they can't go to clubs in Europe without triggering an incident. In Lindsay's case, it wasn't her fault, but it still got ugly.

Lohan was accompanying girlfriend Samantha Ronson to the VIP Room Theater where she was DJing when animal rights activists flourbombed her on the red carpet. Lohan wasn't too shaken up, but Ronson later wrote on her MySpace page criticizing the, er, broad view of free speech the perpetrators demonstrated with Lindsay.

Meanwhile in Newcastle, England, Kanye West was arrested for hitting a paparazzo... again. Apparently upset at being caught outside the Tup Tup Club with four lovely ladies; West claims he held up his hand to keep a cameraman from shooting him, but the photographer says otherwise. On his blog, West cites Princess Diana and warns that the media who chase him are out of control. Oh Kanye, you go on with your bad self.

The sensitive, tortured artist known as Kanye West was arrested last week after smashing a paparazzo's camera at LAX. So what did he do right after he was detained from getting on his commercial flight? Got on another plane!

West left for his original destination of Hawaii on a private jet out of Van Nuys later Thursday afternoon.

In Honolulu he had time to resume posting to his blog and has been working on his next album at Avex Studios, which has offices in Hawaii and LA. He still gets his vacation in and he's on TMZ 24/7? Kid is a genius.

Cops arrested blogger and anger enthusiast Kanye West at Terminal 4 of LAX today before he could board his American Airlines flight. The MTV antagonist, says TMZ, smashed one paparazzo's camera before his assistant smashed the video camera of another.

Kanye didn't even have a chance to run his MacBook Air through the X-ray machine before police stepped in.

Unfortunately for the rapper, a TMZ reporter was on the scene and was able to video the whole thing. Naturally:

Update: The now-released video shows West smashing only the flash of a camera, not the whole thing. So. There's that.

We're definitely catching MGMT and Lez Zeppelin tonight, Chris Rock and The Swell Season (the musicians from "Once") tomorrow, Kanye "Almost Mr. M.I.A." West on Saturday and, if we haven't died from heat stroke by then, Aimee Mann on Sunday. Drink your water and wear sunscreen, people.

And remember, if you absolutely must live-blog your concert experience, check out the Fuse TV barn. They'll have cell phone charging stations and computers with web access so you can make your friends jealous without even leaving the fest!

In rapper M.I.A.'s video for the song "Paper Planes" she claims, "If you catch me at the border, I've got visas in my name." But the artist, real name Mathangi Arulpragasam, just told the press she had to cut her US tour short because her work visa is about to expire.

British by birth, M.I.A. has run afoul of border patrol before because her estranged father has been involved in anti-government groups in Sri Lanka. She's probably headed to Montreal, but Arulpragasam has joked that Kanye West, who's been after her to guest on his records, ought to marry her so she can stay in the States.

Seriously, somebody marry this woman so she can stay in the country! Women of Massachusetts and California? Flavor Flav? The most recent Bachelor?

No, we're not really going to pull a Jay-Z with the news that rapper Kanye West is entering the travel website game. But we sorta want to.

Kanye Travel Ventures promises "the highest quality and most cost effective travel experience for Kanye's loyal fans" according to the press release, but minus the Takashi Murakami header from his album art, the site looks like any of a dozen discount-travel search engines out there.

We'll upgrade our quick review of the site to VISIT NOW if designer backpacks like the one he's rocking up there are provided to passengers. They don't call him the Louis Vuitton Don for nothing, right?

After smashing success last year with First Friday dance parties at the Guggenheim Museum, hipster e-newsletter Flavorpill has launched the One Step Beyond event on final Fridays at the American Museum of Natural History. Admission gets you into the Rose Center for Earth and Space after hours, one free future museum admission and four hours of tunes.

Last Friday, blogger (and occasional rapper) Kanye West hopped on stage with Kid Sister to rap his verse in "Pro Nails." He then took over for 15 minutes as fans climbed up exhibits to get a better view of his set.

The next OSB show is on Leap Day, February 29. DJ Jazzy Jeff (!) and DJ Dirty Finger are headlining, but it seems like you never know who might show up.
