Mystic: Grab a Slice at the Pizza Parlor that Made Julia Roberts a Star

Thanks to Julia Roberts and screenwriter Amy Jones, the town of Mystic, CT was put on the map in 1988 when the film Mystic Pizza became a surprise hit. The movie, about three teenage girls who find their true selves while working at a pizza parlor, also happened to put Julia Roberts on everyone's radar.
The film was actually shot in the pizza parlor it was named for, making Mystic Pizza one of the most popular tourist attractions in eastern Connecticut. Movie fans line up outside to get a peek inside the restaurant that gave Julia Roberts her big break. The walls of Mystic Pizza are still adorned with newspaper clippings, reviews of the flick and photos of Julia and the rest of the cast in their "A Slice of Heaven" t-shirts.

New York: Private Park Travel: Julia Roberts' Kids Play Where You Can't

Hazel and Phinnaeus, twins of megastar Julia Roberts, ran around in New York City's exclusive Gramercy Park recently while younger brother Henry tagged along with the nanny.
Too bad you won't be visiting the lovely oasis of Gramercy: Keys to the private park are granted only to people who live in buildings surrounding it, and the property is tightly controlled. But those who have keys often don't use the park, the president of the Gramercy Park Block Association told The New York Times:
It was always an ornamental park. A lot of people don't even go in to enjoy it. They're so thrilled just to see it. It's like a hotel room with a view of the ocean."

Of course, with Madison Square Park and Union Square within walking distance, it's not as if neighborhood residents lack for park space, but as the old saw goes, the grass is always greener in the park you can't get into. Just ask London residents!
Related Stories:
· The Guardian of Gramercy Park [NYT]
· Julia Roberts' Kids [ONTD]
· Greenspace Travel: Act All Civilized Like in London [Jaunted]
· Celeb Travel coverage [Jaunted]

Essauira: Windsurfing and Julia Roberts in Morocco

Julia Roberts is currently shooting the political drama Charlie Wilson's War in Morocco on Thursday. The film, based on a Texas congressman's dealings with Afghanistan during the war with the Soviets, sounds like it could leave us as confounded as Syriana did.
In any event, the movie is filming in Essauira, a small fishing harbor that has recently become a haven for windsurfers.
Surfing enthusiasts say the surf is better south of Essaouira where it is even windier for kitesurfers and windsurfers. A small town just north of Agadir called Taghazout is known for both its good breaks, high winds, and friendly local surf culture. Just in case Julia and the crew wants to stay active. Of course, you can also stroll into the the center of Essauira and put a monkey on your head. All depends what kind of traveler you are.

Related Stories:
· Ski resorts working to bring minorities to the slopes [CNN]
· Ballantines Original reviews [TripAdvisor]
· Windsurfing in Morocco [Club Mistral]
