Newark: What It Was Like To Go Through Airport Hell In Newark On Sunday

Sunday sucked for departing passengers on flights from Newark International Airport, thanks to the small security snafu that sent everyone in a terminal out and back through security. Flights were delayed around five hours, everyone's patience was tried to the max, and they still didn't find the guy who walked the wrong way through the exit doors.

On the ground in the melee, we had a friend who spent the night waiting in middle of the airport mosh pit as she went out and back through security, only to endure the long delay for her 6-hour-long flight to San Diego. It sounded painful. But what were things like from the other side—for arrivals? Just as insane and unorganized, according to a Jaunted commenter.

The New Face to Face Airline Seating Plan Probably Needs Some Work

We can't really blame you for hating on the proposed face to face seating plan from company Design Q because um...yeah it's awful. This is an airplane, not a flight school classroom. Anyways, here's what other readers had to say about it.

Is Virgin America Skimping on Snacks in First Class?

· Snacking Supply Dwindling in First Class?: Just because you paid for that first class seat on Virgin America doesn't mean you will have a bounty of treats at your seat. A commenter writes:

The usual "Tapas Trio" that were offered in the past are now a thing of the past it seems. What now is being offered are: Pretzels Trail Mix Small Chocolate Bars And the likes (not fair!).....all of which to me (and about 80% of the 1st class flyers I was on board with) turned these all down. There were NO food options offered (really...not even cookies!) on my flight(s) from SFO to LAX which to be honest was VERY upsetting seeing how I really did enjoy having my scotch on the rocks followed by a lovely trio of tapas.

The Best Thing About 'Confessions of a Travel Writer' Has Been The Comments

We asked you what you thought of the Travel Channel's Confessions of a Travel Writer and boy did you let us know. This show could have been just another summer sleeper but thanks to an unlikeable host, it definitely drew a reaction. On the bright side, Chile made out like a bandit. We're all going to Chile in 2010!

Yesterday we put forth the question What Time Do You Fly--Morning, Noon or Night? and listed the pros and cons of each one. Interestingly enough, most of you like to fly in the morning...unless there's a cheaper flight to be found at another time. However, Brett Snyder (of Crankyflier.com) points out that despite what we said, morning flights are not susceptible to cancellation just because there aren't enough passengers on the plane.
I'm an early morning guy without question. But can we please stop perpetuating the myth that airlines cancel flights that are lightly booked? That airplane has a route planned for the rest of the day, and if that first flight cancels, then the rest of the day is shot.
We definitely will take Brett's expert word on this but have any of you flown JetBlue lately? We feel like this has been happening with them recently. And one of our friends last week had to spend the night in Chicago instead of a simple layover because the JetBlue crew "timed out." Ah...the endless joys of airline mysteries!
