Kowloon: Cathay Pacific's New Star Trek-Like Uniforms Start Flying Today

We know, we know. We're geeks about many things airline-related, but we really truly have a soft spot for Flight Attendant fashion. The latest new styles to hit both sorts of runways are those from Hong Kong's airline Cathay Pacific, which we were fortunate enough to inspect firsthand at Cathay's awesome world headquarters back in December.
At the time, Cathay's fresh-faced crews were just seeing the new designs for the first times themselves, and being fitted for their own duds. Well, todays is the day; today the new Cathay crew uniforms take to the skies.
To an infrequent Cathay flyer, the changes may not be so noticeable, trust us that these are so much more chic, in addition to slightly resembling something someone could wear in an episode of Star Trek.

Virgin Atlantic Flight Attendants to Strut the Aisles in New Red Shoes

When you think of flight attendant shoes, you don't exactly think sexy, do you? FAs are on their feet more than we can even imagine, trucking their luggage through airport after airport, on moving walkway after moving walkways and up and down airplane aisles for hours on end. Somehow, through most of this, the women manage to wear their heels.
Virgin Atlantic, whose flight attendants are easily spotted in airport thanks to their sharp red uniforms, are switching it up. The uniform by John Rocha, first introduced almost 10 years ago, is swapping the black shoes for a sexier red patent. The reason? Apparently their new ad campaign and commercial, which features red shoes on the FAs, has been so successful that now the public expects the higher level of glam.
Of course this will freshen up the uniform until they can get new ones, a change expected to occur in three years. Mark it on your calendars.

Flight Attendant Fashion: Pink Uniforms Through History

They did a quick job of photoshopping the color, and you can tell that the original design was the green of the blouse in the ground staff outfit.
With Korean Air, Flight Attendants Fly Fashionably

Looks like a few of you must have noticed how pretty the flight attendant uniforms were for Korean Air because all of you guessed correctly which airline these stylish flight attendants worked for.
The uniforms were introduced in 2005 and let's just say they were badly needed. Korean Air keeps an entire Uniform Fashion History on their website and the ones worn from 1991-2004 were well, so very early 90s with a few leftovers from the late 80s.
But today's uniforms, envisioned by Italian designer Gianfranco Ferre, feature a choice of either skirt or pants in consideration with the FA's "active cabin duties." Here's how Korean Air describes their stylistic goal:

During the development of this attire, the largest emphasis was placed on attaining harmony between modern global fashion appeal with a foundation of Korea's traditional and inherent beauty. While elegant and refined, the uniform is also comfortable, distinguished by its ergonomic design and the use of practical and supple fabrics.

We mostly just love the pretty blue color that they use, which was actually incorporated into the uniforms of 1973. Now, where can we buy these outfits for ourselves?
Related Stories:
· Can you guess the stylish flight attendants [Jaunted]
· Uniform Changes [Korean Air]
