Good Fare: Arbua To Ya!

JFK-Aruba, $129 OW on JetBlue

We're posting this fare, even though JetBlue redesigned their web site so that it looks less chic and a bit more Disneyesque. We're willing to overlook that aspect of the experience for now, but the moment those leather seats get mouse ears, it's a deal breaker. Nonetheless, as is generally the rule with JetBlue, new routes equal good deals.

In this case, it's their new route to Arbua, which runs $129 OW before taxes. A few restrictions: Travel must be from mid-October to mid-December, and there are blackout dates around Thanksgiving. Also, you must purchase by October 5th. Otherwise, you're free to support JetBlue's continued colonization of the Caribbean.

Related Stories:
· Previous Good Fares [Jaunted]

And we're not even getting an attitude about it after a comped trip on the airline, like some. We think that once they work out the kinks and present a real value, they'll succeed.

To that end, Maxjet is offering an impressive sale: $999 RT between JFK and Stansted, including taxes. You get all the privileges of a Maxjet fare; the only restrictions are that you must book by October 1st for travel between November 1st and the end of February. We're big fans of whatever curry British Airways serves in coach on their JFK-London routes, but this represents a real step up to us, for not that much extra cash.

Related Stories:
· Previous Good Fares [Jaunted]

One-way fares start at $150 between the two cities for economy; business class seats are less than $900 each way.

This is pretty exciting; it could spell the beginning of transatlantic LCCs sometime in the near future, for one thing. For another, it seems like amenities are not bad on Oasis: seats have 32 inches of pitch and come with 14 video channels on a personal TV set. We're not sure if we'd fly for ten hours with Ryanair, but this we could handle.

Related Stories:
· Previous Good Fares [Jaunted]

It's on a lot of them--over 3,000--so there are plenty of options, but we chose this fare because it seems pleasingly simple.

Mostly, who wouldn't want to go to Steamboat Springs, Colorado? It's fun to say, sure; there isn't the same posh association as there in places like Vail or Telluride. More importantly, Steamboat Springs is building a new airport, just for you. Which means you might want to check it out before that opens in December and things get really busy. It's a big ski town, so now's the time to check out the mineral baths and horseback riding.
