Clooney, who showed his hometown pride by sporting a Cincinnati Bengals Junk Food t-shirt, was returning from Palm Springs, CA where he was awarded the Chairman's Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival. ]]>
This week the Palms Springs International Film Festival announced George Clooney will be the Chairman Award winner, for his work in The Descendents, during their 2012 festival which takes place between January 5-16, 2012.
Along with Clooney, Michelle Williams, whose role as Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn is generating some serious Oscar buzz, will also be honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award, while Glenn Close will receive the Career Achievement Award. ]]>

According to The L.A. Times, even George Clooney is susceptible. Apparently, George has recently recovered from malaria, which he contracted while on a philanthropic trip to Sudan earlier this month.
But George isn't the only celeb who has fallen ill after traveling. During the swine flu epidemic of '09, several stars were taken down by the illness, including Rupert Grint (Harry Potter's Ron Weasley) who got sick after traveling. ]]>

Clooney is set to begin shooting Ides of March in his hometown of Cincinnati and northern Kentucky next month. George is a graduate of Augusta, Kentucky High School, which is about an hour outside of Cincinnati. A frequent flying businessman sets his eyes on the prize of 10 million miles, encountering many airports and women on the way. That's the idea behind George Clooney's new movie Up In the Air, but after we went to see it yesterday in theaters, we think it's an idea they should have kept to themselves. The whole movie functioned as an advertising vehicle more than anything else, with multiple (and very obvious) paid appearances of the American Airlines and Hilton Hotels brands.
We wanted to like it, we really did, but anyone going to see it and hoping for a story about travel will be disappointed; this is just another romantic comedy where you know what will happen half-way through. In fact, after a point in the movie where George Clooney dances, the movie veers away from the flying focus, and we are lost in Clooney's inner emotional conflict when we'd rather be lost in baggage claim. Our friend got so bored during the movie that he started playing iPhone games, and we devised a drinking game plan for when this movie comes out on Netflix.
