Menton: The French Riviera Starts Spring with a Zest Fest for Lemon Lovers

It must smell amazing in Menton, France, right now. The city in the French Riviera is holding its 77th annual Lemon Festival, which pays homage to the lemon, through March 3.
According to the Menton Office of Tourism, the festival attracts more than 250,000 lemon lovers every year. The fest honors Menton's nickname as "the City of Lemons," since citrus was a main crop for the area, something the city is looking to recapture. The Menton lemon is supposed to be rich in acid and essence and has a high essential oil content in the peel. And really, anywhere you go in the French and Italian Rivieras will try to push some local-made products on you, from lemon soap to limoncello liqueur.

We’ve attended their offerings in North Carolina before and definitely think it’s worth your time.
There’s going to be at least 250 different beers for everyone to sample, and they’ll be coming from craft brewers, microbreweries, and even breweries that have enough cash to advertise during the Super Bowl.
Somerton: Add Tamales To Your Holiday Menu At An Arizona Festival

While your family is busy waiting in line to pick up one of those spiral sliced hams, there’s plenty of others picking up tamales for the holidays. If you haven’t added the traditional Mexican dish to your seasonal spread, now’s the perfect time to do it. However, if you are a little nervous to shake up your family’s tradition, just swing by the Somerton Tamale Festival this weekend in Arizona to get a taste of what you’re missing.
Things run from 11am until 10pm on December 19, and this is the third year that organizers have been running the party. It's a free festival, so don't worry about postponing all the Christmas chores for another day in favor of heading out to the city of Somerton. There will be music and other entertainment throughout the day, including mariachis and other traditional Mexican sounds. Later in the afternoon is when your vote will matter—that’s when festival organizers tally the votes for the Best Tamale Award.

The holiday season is full of extra calories thanks to delicious cookies, chocolates, and candy canes. We’re also big fans of getting some extra nourishment from holiday beverages—eggnog anyone? If drinking gets you in the Christmas spirit, then Portland needs to be on your to-do list for this weekend. The city is getting ready for its Holiday Ale Festival today through December 6 in Pioneer Courthouse Square—don’t worry about getting chilly, its inside heated tents. It’s a good deal too, just $20 will get you ten tasting tickets and a souvenir mug.
There’s going to be over 45 different holiday brews from all over the globe, but there will be plenty of local beers from Oregon as well. Each day there will be a limited selection of specialty beers, so make sure you check out which day might be best for your porter palette. We want to attend this Thursday to take on the Ho Ho Homo Erectus from Walking Man Brewing. It’s an Imperial IPA that’s been aged in Jamaican rum barrels—there’s only a quarter barrel of this one, so get there early to try it out.
