Just like dineLA's recently extended Restaurant Week, Los Angeles Fashion Week has turned into more of a Fashion Month. We're the first to admit that Los Angeles is no New York when it comes to carrying fashion heft, but there's talent floating around the 405, especially in the Downtown Fashion District. Since early October, various shopping events, trunk shows, previews, and the like, have been taking place around town in celebration of the city's well-known and emerging designers.

Edgy denim label Rock & Republic recently held a collaboration launch party with Essie, and former Robertson Boulevard super-boutiques Madison and Diavolina celebrated their West Third flagship store launch last Thursday with stylists and respected denim designers Emily Current and Merritt Elliott of Current/Elliott. The City of Lights will become the City of Photographer Flash Strobes in the next 24 hours as Paris Fashion Week officially begins tomorrow and runs through Thursday, October 8. Although this means that Paris will be on its best behavior with gleaming-clean upscale restaurants, the best window displays, and serious eye candy walking down the street, it also means that private parties and fashion shows will possibly clog up some of the sights that tourists regularly hit.

Since we want you to get the most out of Paris in the autumn, with a dash of the glamor of the Fashion Week thrown in, we'll let you in on the places to either hit or skip—depending on how much you love big crowds of pretentious people—in Paris for the next ten days:

There is always something happening in New York City, whether its food-related like Restaurant Week, movie-related like the Tribeca Film Festival or any of the movies filming on the street, or just plain old party-related for the heck of throwing a good time. Come this September, NYC's crowded social calendar gets yet another doozy of an event added: Fashion's Night Out.

Only, this night of fashion designers and culture arbiters mixing with shoppers won't be restricted to the Big Apple; it's going global with simultaneous events all around Europe, in Brazil, Russia, China, India, Japan and Taiwan. Stores will stay open until 11pm for the revelry.

To be frank, we're pretty damn excited for this to go down on September 10, which is also the eve of New York's Fashion Week. It's also the day before September 11, and Fashion's Night Out is paying respect to this by donating all proceeds from the sale of their T-shirts to the 9/11 Memorial Fund.

The bankers from whose coffers designer clothing is bought may have lost their jobs, but the show must go on at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York -- and at least for now, no one is staying away, even if the clothes aren't as butterfly-vivid as before.

Fashion research firm Pantone announced the official color of fashion week was "iron," a grayish-brown they found in almost one in every six collections being put on. Some designers countered allegations of insensitive frivolity in this climate with toned-down looks, the kind women might actually wear straight off the runway. No tans please: Lily Allen, Dita Von Teese and Katy Perry represent the palest of the pale in the front row of the Christian Dior show at Paris Fashion Week.

A recent New York Times story quipped "the sun never sets on the runway" with the proliferation of Fashion Weeks worldwide. Paris is even safer than New York, considering many of the classic ateliers like Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel are still open there. But "Islands of the World Fashion Week" in the Bahamas sounds like a fashion editor's excuse to take a vacation.

It was a veritable reality show love-fest at the Semi Precious Weapons Fashion Week Party at Rebel in Manhattan Monday night: "Real World: Brooklyn"'s resident Mormon skaterboi Chet Cannon got cozy with ANTM's Whitney Thompson.

More of the cast was also in the house, dancing it up in the front row before partying with the glam rockers.

Why is it that all the action is in Manhattan? Could have something to do with scary chopper attacks!

Justin isn't the only singer getting inspired by Fashion Week...

British/Sri Lankan hip-hopper M.I.A. is out with a cheeky "Fashion Week surprise," a limited run of self-designed merch that reflects by her colorful on-stage persona.

M.I.A. has had a busy travel year: After getting engaged at our request, she canceled the last leg of her world tour earlier this year due to exhaustion, and has since been busy building schools in Liberia. Not sure when she found time to become a designer too!
