If you were a "Juno" fan, you'll enjoy this week's pick. "Smart People" brings Sarah Jessica Parker, Ellen Page, Dennis Quaid and Thomas Hayden Church to the screen as a dysfunctional family that gets a new lease on life.

Dennis Quaid is a widowed professor whose adopted brother Chuck (Church) returns to his life around the same time he meets SJP, a doctor. We hear there's all sorts of wry humor and Ellen Page plays a bit of her Juno role again--but we're OK with that.

The Oscar nominations for this year have just arrived, and we're digging through to figure out which stars you'll see at the Kodak Theatre on February 24--provided they care to cross the WGA picket line. George Clooney will leave his Italian palazzo to represent legal thriller "Michael Clayton"; Ellen Page will go south of the border for "Juno," Javier Bardem will fly over the Atlantic for "No Country for Old Men" (he's from Spain, didn't you know?) and Daniel Day-Lewis will come out of his secret underground lair in support of "There Will Be Blood."

"Juno" star Ellen Page pauses to reflect next to her carry-on bags at LAX, on a flight back to her native Canada. Looks like this year's It Girl is skipping the Sundance Film Festival, where she'll be on screen as the daughter of a divorced teacher (Dennis Quaid) who is falling for once of his former students (Sarah Jessica Parker) in the film "Smart People."

We didn't notice it in the movie, but Juno and her ironic pals live in Minnesota. Right now you can get round-trip tickets from LAX to Minneapolis-St. Paul for just $199 on Northwest... in case you're finding it difficult to be a hipster in the eternal sunshine. Surely, Page's plaid shirt would fit in better in the north country.
