It's Not Too Late To Go Home for Easter

Last night was Passover, and you know what that means—we're in the midst of another batch of major religious holidays that send people on frantic last-minute trips homeward. If mom's laying down the guilt trip about not coming home for Easter, it's not too late to regain your status as her favorite child by booking a flight to see the fam. But be sure to book your last-minute flight asap so that you can be home in time for Sunday supper.
Travelzoo is offering a great deal on flights to and from Denver that cost $39 and up one way. Kayak is offering flights from Los Angeles to New York starting at $259.
For West Coast travel, check out Virgin America's sale, which starts at $49 one way from San Francisco to Las Vegas. Prices obviously get steep the closer you get to the holiday, but if you are flexible with dates, you can score a deal. And for East Coasters, JetBlue has a sale where you can spend $49 for a one-way from Boston to Pittsburgh.
If you still can't bag a decent fare, there's always options like Megabus and Amtrak. But you know mom will spring for a plane ticket to have her No. 1 child home for Easter.
Related Stories:
· Easter Travel Coverage [Jaunted]

Brooklyn: Where to Find the Most Decadent Easter Treats: Chocolate-Covered Peeps

Can we talk about chocolate for a second, please? It seems like every time we walk into a drug store or market, we're confronted with rows of vibrant foil-wrapped chocolate rabbits and Cadbury eggs. But there's so much more to be discovered in the world of Easter chocolates, and so while down in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn this weekend, we stopped by a few of the area's specialty stores and uncovered these mini miracles: chocolate-covered Peeps.
At $5 for a pack of four, they aren't cheap, but their name—the "Chirp-N-Dales," is too cute to resist. We got a pack of the dark chocolate-dipped bunnies, but the chicks in chocolate tuxedos were tempting too. They can be found at the flagship chocolaterie of chef Jacques Torres, who calls himself "Mr. Chocolate" and is often found guesting on talk shows or the Food Channel, discussing the ways of chocolate. He is someone who truly has fun with the rich stuff, because we usually swing by his chocolate-dipped Cheerios and espresso beans. But these Peeps had us at "hello."
More Peepin', after the jump!

But now you can mark Christ's resurrection with a Jesus Trail tour package from Nazareth.
The Jesus Trail peeps offer "self-guided tour packages" that include accommodations, luggage transfer, orientation, site entry fees, guidebook, shuttle and optional meals. Packages start at $299 for six days and five nights. The bonus is that you can determine your own departure date (as long as it doesn't conflict with Shabbat observance).
Washington DC: White House Easter Egg Roll Now Selling Tickets Online

Why shouldn't a trip to the nation's best known address be a mouse click away? For the first time ever the White House announced tickets to its annual Easter Egg Roll would be available online, and harried parents with Blackberrys everywhere rejoiced.
The annual and largely secular event attracts thousands of kids to push hard-boiled eggs through the normally sedate White House lawn in a tradition originally begun by First Lady Dolley Madison. This year's Roll, held on April 13, has been given the tech treatment with tickets available here right now through Front Gate, as well as a fitness gloss emphasizing healthy living.
Whether that includes a balanced diet involving eggs is hard to say, but families who are already headed to Washington D.C. for spring break should snatch up a spot and the chance to meet the President and First Lady, who normally preside over the event. But luck has to be on your side: Unfortunately, when we were finally able to load Front Gate's dedicated page, it told us tickets would be available "at various times" and to keep checking back.
Related Stories:
· White House Easter Egg Roll Moves Tickets Online [CBS News]
· Time for Change: Redesigning the White House [Jaunted]
· Berlin Hotels Not Great At Celebrating Easter Properly [HC]
[Photo of the 2006 Easter Egg Roll hunt: teejayhanson]
