Fair Warning: Discovery Channel's 'Shark Week' Starts This Sunday

Deep breaths. Deeeep breaths. This is your warning that this Sunday begins the period of TV that pretty much beats all other TV specials all year: the Discovery Channel's Shark Week. Seriously, is there anything better than sitting back with just relaxing while watching shows titled "Top 10 Weird Sharks," "Ultimate Air Jaws" and "Jaws Comes Home?" The correct answer is no, obviously.
Next year we're totally throwing a Shark Week party, like so many others this weekend. We would this year but we're traveling (duh) and the bulk of our Shark Week action is going to come over the internetz, thanks to the brilliance of the Discovery Channel uploading many half-hour programs straight the their website.
Shark Week (hosted by SNL's Andy Samberg) starts at 9pm EST on Sunday, July 31. Now for the Funny or Die quickies to get you in the mood:

Guess not: Discovery Communications is teaming up with travel provider G.A.P Adventures to launch dozens of luxury trips based on Discovery Channel programming. With prices starting at $2,000 per person for trips ranging from 3 to 24 days, these are not for the faint of wallet.
Locations range from common tourist destinations like the USA and Mexico to places like Botswana, where you'll probably always need a guide. All of the packages come with their share of intriguingly esoteric Discovery Channel twists; one of the USA tours revolves around historic parks in the Southwest. What travelers will see on the 12 day tour, though, ranges from rock formations to deserts to dwellings abandoned thousands of years ago.
The other USA destination is even more nature-oriented, taking travelers all the way up north to Alaska.
Will Ferrell Takes On Bear Grylls in Swedish Hinterland

We've never fully recovered from the 2007 scandal involving Bear Grylls, host of Man vs. Wild, who was accused of staging some of his wilderness survival adventures. But the guest apperance of Will Ferrell might just be the Neosporin that we need.
Will is set to appear on an episode of the Discovery Channel show in early June in which he and Bear spent two days exploring the Swedish hinterland. The hinterland, as we just learned, is pretty much no-man's land and in Sweden that involves a lot of ice and snow.

Armed with only the most basic survival equipment, Grylls took Ferrell through the paces of real life survival in the ice-bound mountain and glacier ranges in the far north of Sweden.
Typical of the series, Grylls showed the actor -- who took part in the show to promote his upcoming adventure comedy, Land of the Lost -- what it takes to find food in the forests. They even drink their own urine and bite into reindeer eyeballs.

The two also tandem-abseiled off a helicopter, rappelled down frozen waterfalls and camped out overnight in the freezing temperatures. While Will did the stint as part of a "Land of the Lost" promotion, we're wondering if his Swedish wife Viveca had any say in the locale.
Related Stories:
· Will Ferrell Drinks His Own Urine on Man vs. Wild Adventure [Us Weekly]
· Man vs. Wild Reality Check [Jaunted]
