The Government Actually Wants To Hear Your Airline Complaints

For those of you that love complaining about your flights, there’s a new government website that will make you very happy. Hopefully you won’t need to use it, but if you feel like you got screwed during a flight, Uncle Sam wants to know about it. Ideally the government will actually do something about your complaints, but even if they don’t, it’s better than just keeping quiet about it.
The US Department of Transportation launched a website to give consumers a direct link to the air travel complaint form. Officials are hoping that with better access to the DOT, travelers will realize that they can complain to the federal government, and that it might actually bring results. With in-flight WiFi available on so many flights now, you’ll be able to share your travel hell before you even land. Maybe a Twitter account for the site will come next so we can send live updates to someone who might care about a dreaded tarmac delay and to enforce those new rules.

The DOT Looks Out For Air Travelers With New Delay and Complaint Rules

Remember that Continental Connection flight that sat on the tarmac for over eight hours during a weather pitstop in Rochester? They suffered the cramped conditions of a regional jet in addition to limited food, water, and bathroom facilities, and were not allowed to de-plane into the terminal for the night. Well, they got their payday, but a scenario won't be happening again thanks to some new rules passed down today by the Department of Transportation.
These new rules are a major first step towards a Passengers' Bill of Rights, but keep in mind that they don't take affect for another four months. There's all sorts of new directives designed to keep passengers healthy, happy and with plenty of information. Let's take a look at the rules:

A Very Special Panel Will Try Really Hard to Fix the Airline Industry

It's been a tough couple of decades for the airline industry, but things are finally looking up, thanks to a "special panel" created by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The AP reports that Transportation Secretary Roy LaHood said Thursday that the panel will come up with a plan to fix the industry, which has suffered billions of dollars in losses amid slackened demand, fluctuating oil prices, and cutthroat competition.
