We know, we know, guidebooks are on their way out and pretty soon, the younger generation coming up will ask us what it was like to travel with guidebooks once.

What is going on with Air New Zealand these days? They are releasing one gimmicky promo after the next. First, there was the group of people who wore body advertisements for the Kiwi airline, then came airline employees covered in body paint, followed by the announcement of a matchmaking flight and then some more body paint.

This time, the matchmaking flight from Los Angeles to Auckland has decided to bring onboard a successful love match to inspire hope in the other singletons on the flight—Jason Mesnick and his girlfriend, Molly of the ABC show, "The Bachelor."

The October 13 trip is all about finding love (and filling up Air New Zealand planes), with a plane load of singles heading down to Auckland for a major party. And we're expecting at least a few Kiwi-American marriages to come out of this.

Since everyone else will be single, we're not sure that inviting Jason and Molly along is quite the right thing to do, but there's definitely one good side to it – to celebrate this announcement, Air New Zealand is offering tickets at $200 off. Usually when you find a lower fare on a travel booking website, you tend to jump for joy at your bargain hunting skills. But this time around, it actually pays to book directly through the airline and pay a little more. That's because American Airlines offers travelers a Lowest Fare Guarantee. Here's how it works:

If you find the exact same flight and itinerary for at least $5 less on another web site the same day you made your flight purchase on American, the airline will actually refund you the difference and give you $50 airfare credit to be used for a future flight.

We love getting stuff for free, but apparently the red-haired people of Adelaide, South Australia would rather pay to get into the Adelaide Zoo at the moment.

The zoo started a promotion using the Aussie slang term "ranga", a nickname for redheads that derives from the color of the average orangutan. The deal offered free entry to the zoo for all "rangas," but they've toned down the deal now after some complaints.

The good news is that despite the complaints, the zoo decided just to drop the "ranga" title. So red-haired visitors (including those with dyed red hair!) can still get into the zoo for free for the next week. Apparently less than 2 percent of people are redheads but if you're one of them then rush down to Adelaide now. And don't be offended--we're just jealous we can't get in for free.

Next time you're in Dublin trying to get around the congested city center, just keep your eyes open for one of these brightly colored, blob shaped Ecocabs.

Looking like a hybrid golf cart and pedicab, the Ecocab is a pedal powered tricycle. They provide an easy green transportation option for making short distance trips through busy cities. (A battery back up is included, just in case the driver gets a little winded or encounters a big hill.)

The aerodynamic cab comfortably seats three passengers and is totally free. The service is sponsored by advertising, and all Ecocabs are wrapped with can't miss ads. The drivers are even dressed to match.

Homeboys may be on the way out of the Caribbean, but American Airlines is leaving with a bang. The carrier has put pretty much every destination in the region on sale, as long as you book by the end of this month.

We tried something simple to start, an early September round-trip between St. Maarten and Miami. AA is selling seats for $388, which is a steal compared to the $850 United is asking. Since the sale also covers Mexico, we tried NYC-Mexico City and dug up a fare of $526 all-in. That's the best rate going for the early September dates we used.

As with all airfare sales, sometimes you'll find great deals and other times it won't work out. Just remember: The money you save may go towards luggage fees if you overpack!
