Even though Life on Mars, the ABC series about a detective who is hit by a car and wakes up in 1973, was recently canceled, they are still filming the series’ final episodes in and around NYC. Today, they are at City Island Yacht Club in City Island.
City Island, located just off of the Bronx, is one of New York’s best-kept secrets, a real taste of New England in the middle of the Big Apple. The island has one main street, the aptly named City Island Ave, which stretches its entire length, a whopping 1.5 miles, and is lined with seafood restaurants, antique shops, and corner stores. The primarily residential side streets that jut off of City Island Ave terminate at beaches, most of which are locked and gated. ]]>
