What's the Deal with Direct Air and Their Destinations?

There’s all kinds of airlines here and there, and sometimes it’s hard to keep them straight. That’s why we’re taking a closer look at Direct Air to see what they’re all about and where they like to fly. With the holidays upon us—and the cold weather around the corner—adding another airline to your travel arsenal might just save you a few bucks.
Direct Air is basically a public charter airline—kind of like Sun Country—which means that their flights are sometimes scheduled and sometimes not. They also get a little help from their friends, so that means that someone else’s name might be plastered along the side of the plane.
Some of the alternate options included XTRA Airways, Vision Airlines and SkyKing, so don’t be alarmed when you get to the airport and don’t see a Direct Air plane there waiting for you. There was even a time when Virgin America flew the flights before they needed them for their own airline

Not Familiar With 'Comefly?' Well, They're Flying Nonstop From Florida To Denmark

Every once in a while we seem to come across some new-to-us airline, and this week it’s some kind of charter dealio that’s flying nonstop from Florida to Denmark. You’d think a likely city pair would be something like Miami to Copenhagen, but that’s not the case. This airline is crossing the Atlantic with the sole purpose of linking Fort Myers, Florida and Aalborg, Denmark.
The flights will operate once a week—on Mondays—starting on December 19 and running through April 9 of next year. If you’re looking to hitch a ride just talk to the folks over at Comefly, because they’re the ones in charge. Although, it’s actually Monarch Airlines that are the ones responsibility for doing the flying of the airplanes. Confused? Yes, we were too, especially with the less than awesome English translation of the website—but hey—they tried.

Vision Airlines Isn't Just for Russian Spies Anymore

There’s a somewhat new airline getting ready to take the skies, but at first their flights are going to be quite limited. Vision Airlines has been serving passengers on their charter aircraft to destinations like the Grand Canyon, but now they’re going to start offering regularly scheduled passenger service. Expect low fares, frequent flights, and a chance to fly aboard Dornier 328 turboprops.
Right now the airline is probably most famous for sending that hot Russian spy and her comrades back home; however, they’re now looking to capitalize on their fame by launching low fares between Louisville and Atlanta. Flights begin on December 13—just in time for all that fun holiday travel—and planes will head back and forth twice daily. Flights start at just $99 each way before taxes and fees, which is probably a lot less than Delta charges on the same route.

Back in the day (meaning a few years ago), Pace Airlines was the charter company behind the brand Hooters Air. Despite America’s love for short shorts, the scantily clad airline folded and Pace went back to what it did best—chartering flights for rich people and sports teams. However, things aren’t going as well as they once were, and now Pace Airlines is in some hot water.
The airline has been struggling as it’s been losing contracts, and it doesn’t help that the CEO is facing a felony charge because apparently he wasn’t making payments to his employee’s group health insurance. As of last week, coverage for over 300 workers was dropped, because that’s what happens when you don’t pay the bills. The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is now after the airline as they’ve filed a lawsuit against Pace on behalf of a flight attendant who is claiming discrimination in the airline’s promotion practices.
Toledo: Name That Airline: Air Azul Changes Everything Before It Even Takes Off

Not too long ago Air Azul jumped onto the scene promising flights from Toledo to Newark. Well before they even had a chance to kick the tires and light the fires, the airline is taking a little break. Instead of starting flights in June, flights are pushed back until at least July.
Originally, their services were going to be offered thanks to a little help from the charter company Sun Country Airlines. However, Sun Country recently sent a letter to all passengers that had booked on Air Azul to let them know that they’d have to rebook as they were no longer affiliated with Air Azul.
TX: Pregnancy Travel: Angelina Jolie Breaks All the Rules

While rumors swirl that soccer parents Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are plotting a summer wedding, Jolie, and her obvious baby bump, were busy boarding a private plane in Smithville, Texas yesterday. From the photos she actually looks to be thinking about piloting the plane herself. She does have her pilots license right?
It is doubtful she actually flew this tiny plane, but looking at the photos there is little doubt she flew in it. We all know flying while pregnant can be totally fine, but there are some precautions those preggos who are not certified Super World Travelers might want to take:
• Talk with your midwife/doctor/practitioner. If you are past the 36-week mark, the airlines have the right to turn you away, though you can always fly charter.
• Try to do most of your travel in the second trimester--for the sake of your own comfort.
• Avoid excessive flying.
• Book seats with more leg room.
• Avoid travel to countries that would require immunization.
These are not hard and fast rules, just suggestions, or, if you are a Super World Traveler, do whatever you damn well please. What's in Smithville anyway? The UFOs, she should know, were in Stephenville.
