FREE STUFF ALERT! If you're in the Boston area today and interested in grabbing some free tickets on Jetblue, you might want to keep your eyes on Twitter today for a chance at 'em.

In celebration of their 10th Anniversary in the skies, Jetblue is doing just as they did in NYC a month ago by giving away lots of free tickets to the first-come-first-served people of Boston.

They'll be announcing their giveaway locations and any other details you need to know on their Twitter @Jetblue, so be sure to follow them! For hints at what to expect, we can tell you that in New York, they started in the business district and had three locations total throughout the day, asking the crowd to do things like bring them a birthday card, wear blue and bring an airplane-related item, and bring them a destination postcard. At each place, tons of people turned up, so don't expect them to hang out at the location for more than twenty minutes.

Now this is just getting silly. The dustup at Logan was already the most interesting battle in the airline industry, with Southwest turning the turf war into a bloodbath and pushing out major carriers like US Airways. JetBlue—which considers Boston home turf—isn't going to be shoved aside as easily. They're retaliating by increasing their Boston flights by a full 30 percent.

Southwest recently broadsided JetBlue and AirTran by adding two daily roundtrips, for a total of seven, between Boston and Baltimore. That bumped up the total number of BOS-BWI dailies to 20. The outlook for the 2010 airline industry is unremittingly bleak, but you wouldn't know it from the way that Southwest is acting. The low cost carrier is adding 104 flights to its spring schedule. Travelocity’s cuddly/creepy garden gnome mascot is ready to hit the road again, and the travel website is asking fans to vote on where he should head next.

After hitting up Vegas (thanks to some voting from the crew over at Vegas Chatter!), the gnome jaunted down the west coast, hitting up Sedona and Arizona, but now he’s swinging back east. Thus, Travelocity has delved into the eternal Northeast travel battle: which city (after New York of course) is most worth a visit? Visitors to the gnome’s website are asked whether he should visit Boston, Philadelphia, or DC.

And so far, DC’s rumored Obama-era coolness is nowhere to be seen, as the district (14%) is lagging far behind Boston (46%) and Philly (40%). Cast your vote over at the gnome's website, and follow his travels—where else?—on twitter.

Of all the Little Italys in the northeast, Boston's is probably the one least decimated by gentrification. That's not to say this nabe doesn't have its fair share of yuppie cafes and tourist traps, but they don't totally drown out the sweet sound of "uno cannoli, per favore."

You'll still find narrow cobblestone streets lined with hole-in-the-wall eateries, decades-old businesses which make up a part of an ethnic fabric and give the neighborhood a personality and attractions above tourism. If you've ever been to a Jewish Deli and thought "these latkes are great, but they'd be better with a side of bacon," then boy has Boston got a deli for you.

Set on Harvard Street in the Brookline neighborhood, Zaftigs is one deli where you won't want to take grandma, because while they've got all the kosher classics, they don't keep strictly kosher.

The restaurant serves all the traditional offerings—potato pancakes, blintzes, smoked whitefish salad—along with a few Jewish fusion options like BBQ brisket quesadillas. It may perhaps be the first time you'll have ever had an opportunity to taste "Jewish fusion."

Breakfast, which is served all day, features banana-stuffed French toast and cheddar-apple omelets. Those not enough choices for you? Don't worry, you can always opt for a BLT, just don't tell grandma.
