The airport down in Myrtle Beach is going through a little bit of a terminal renovation and expansion, and we’re excited to learn that they’re already focusing on some new airport dining options. It won't just be national favorites and brand names either, as they’ve called on some local restaurateurs and businesses to bring unique options to travelers heading to and from town.

Bubba's Fish Shack and Nacho Hippo—great names—are just two of the new restaurants that have local outposts in addition to their new home at the airport. Expect plenty of BBQ this and that, as well as fried seafood, burgers, and sandwiches from Bubba’s. Over at Nacho Hippo there should be lots of frozen tequila beverages, but the plan is to also put an international spin on the traditional tacos and nachos. If you’re an Iron Chef it’s clear that you are more than half-way decent at cooking, but it also means that you have a passion for restaurants—especially those at the airport. Cat Cora is already slinging stuff in San Francisco and Houston, and now Michael Symon is planning to do something similar.

Bar Symon is headed to Pittsburgh International Airport as soon as this May, and the plan is to ensure that hungry travelers are well fed and are provided with something a little more substantial than a bag of pretzels and a Diet Coke. There’s already plenty of awesome options for eats when you travel to—or through—Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, but now even more new restaurants on due to arrive. It’s all part of the latest and greatest addition to the airport, as ATL’s new international terminal is scheduled to debut later this year.

Airport officials haven’t specified where—or when—each new establishment will do its thing, but many of these will hold grand openings later this year, between the new terminal and other vacancies across the airport. We love oversized checks and construction equipment, and both of those things are now slowly making their way to Tampa International Airport. In total the airport is planning to spend around $30 million to refresh and update some of its terminals, and we’re sure we’re not the only ones who enjoy an airport concourse with a fresh coat of paint.

Some of the airport signs, restrooms, and flooring are approaching 40 years old, so officials want to make sure everything is renovated before it's too late. We usually don’t get that excited over a chain restaurant, but when we saw that a Sbarro was departing Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, we were pretty excited. The hardhats and temporary walls are gone, and now Pei Wei Asian Diner—little brother to PF Changs—is in and Sbarro is out at MSP.

The new restaurant features all kinds of Asian-inspired dishes, of course with an extra dose of tasty for the American palette.
