Things are continuing to go well for Porter Airlines. Their new route to Boston seems like a hit, and they’ve begun to spread their signature service beyond their home base of Toronto City Centre Airport. Earlier this month they cut the ribbon on a new lounge for passengers traveling to and from Ottawa International Airport. The lounge is open to all passengers holding a ticket—there’s no annual fee or other sneaky membership requirements.

They got things right in Toronto, so the airline didn't stray from its modern and comfortable design when moving to Ottawa. There’s computer workstations, a conference room, and obviously complimentary WiFi access. If you build up a slight appetite by doing too much work there’s also free snacks and espresso in heated cups—perfect for those cold Canadian winters. Frequent flyers of US Airways will soon be smiling a little more as they prepare to board their flights. The airline has finally caught up with other carriers and has added free booze to the menu at the US Airways Club. However, a membership to the airline club will still set passengers back at least $325 to join, and can cost $450 if they don’t have any status with the airline. The free alcohol will begin to flow in the clubs starting on October 30.

Additionally, passengers will be able to use the clubs of partner airlines as well. This includes Continental Airlines’ Presidents Club as the airline finally joined the Star Alliance this week. After a long snooze in one of Eithad Airways' crazy fancy suites, you are going to need to eventually stumble off the plane, like it or not. That’s why the airline is starting to expand its offerings when it comes to matching fancy schmancy lounges. The airline opened their first lounge outside of the United Arab Emirates over the summer in Frankfurt, and now they have their eyes on the comfort prize in London.

Along with moving their flights from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4 at London-Heathrow, a new lounge will open for the classiest of fliers on September 30. Give them a call now and book your private treatment room where you’ll be pampered by treatments from the Six Senses Spa. The foot and leg massages will be quite a relief after an overnight long-haul flight. Despite all the US Airways flights which, from our perch in the upper deck at Citi Field during this weekend's Mets games, we saw landing at LaGuardia, the carrier has had a rough time of it during this economic slow-down. As a result, US Airways announced yesterday that they will be closing their Las Vegas-McCarran airport Club as well as the city ticket office in Tempe, AZ, where the airline is based.

These changes, among others like moving to contractors for ramp service at nine of their airports, mean that approximately 600 US Airways ground employees will loose their jobs. This is in addition to US' scheme of asking 400 flight attendants to opt for voluntary furloughs.

While we understand their decision to close their only street-side ticket office in Tempe because, well, who has one of those anymore (ok a few international airlines), we feel pretty rotten for those who will gladly pay extra for access to the lounge's free WiFi, work stations and refreshments, especially since Las Vegas is a mecca for business conventions and their need-to-stay-connected attendees. Back to the corral gate seating with you, and be nice to the person sitting next to you; they could be laid-off US Airways employee who now has to pay full-price to fly.

Gearing up for a Miami to Mumbai direct and not looking forward to spending 19 hours cramped in your seat, even if it is business class? At least you'll be in for a treat if you're flying Delta, since they've just opened a new and improved Sky Club at Miami International designed to fuse both the Delta and Northwest brands and flyers into one slick space.

The 7,500-square foot space seats only 156 visitors, so don't expect there to be a mad rush on the last bear claw at the continental breakfast spread.

In addition to the sweet perk of free WiFi access, the Club also boasts a "full-service bar with café seating, comfortable general seating areas, a quiet room and even a shower suite." We even spotted a conference room up in that video; we'll be the ones playing hangman on the dry erase board.
