Atlanta: How About A Nap In Atlanta Airport's New 'Minute Suites'?

We're admittedly not fans of airport sleeping, but the new Minute Suites at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport are the closest we've come to changing our minds. They've located in Concourse B, they're 7 feet by 8 feet, and they're clean. They're also isolated and have wifi, adding up to the best situation you can reasonably expect at an airport.
Their promo materials sound a little New Agey—"a wellness-based solution to the stress and fatigue caused by air travel," "'napware' audio program"—but the perks seem to be solid enough. Each suite has a daybed with fresh blankets and pillow covers. There's an HDTV that can stream television programs, flight statistics, or the Internet. You can also access the Internet via the suite wifi or a workstation. Imagine a layover plus a canceled flight, and now imagine not having to walk to the gate every 20 minutes because you can check the flight status from a comfortable sofa. You begin to get a sense of their business plan.

Glasgow: Glasgow Updates Airport Shopping With Snazzy 'Planeshop' Concept

Everybody loves a good pop-up shop, but the possibility of limited-edition goods gets even more tempting when we're talking about travel products. Very soon, as the shop is due to open yet this year, "Planeshop" will debut inside of Glasgow Airport as a rotating retail concept. The shop will be permanent, but the brands for sale inside of it will alternate every so often to constantly keep the airport concessions fresh and interesting.
We love love love stuff like this because it helps to make an airport a destination in itself, giving you something to look forward and possibly counteracting the frustration experienced during the rigamarole of air travel. In addition to the limited edition items, Planeshop will provide travelers with Planemix, "a downloadable selection of global digital music tracks that rotates each month," and Foodflight, "a selection of tapas and sangria for takeout or in-store dining."

Tempe: Layover Travel: Hiking by Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport

Got some time to waste around PHX? If you're traveling with your sneaks and looking for more than fast food or putzing around the 'net, consider an express hike in Tempe. Hayden Butte (a.k.a. "A" Mountain, for the Arizona State University logo that rests on it, pictured above), is just five miles from the airport and accessible via the Valley Metro's Red Line.
The bus ride will run you $1.25 each way, and access to the mountain is free. It's a steep but short hike (about 1/2 a mile one-way) that will plop you atop the peak with expansive views of the Valley of the Sun.
The top of the hike is also prime plane-spotting territory. It's enough to put a squishy spot on the heart of even the most hardened air traveler.

Related Stories:
· Sky Harbor Airport [Official Site]
· Hayden Butte Preserve [City of Tempe]

Burlingame: World's Biggest Pez Dispenser Lives in Burlingame

From Jaunted Tipster Gary:

I'm hoping that the Pop Culture Travel Guide that likes Really Big Things would enjoy seeing the World's Biggest Pez Dispenser!

Enjoy it? Dude, if we didn't already have plans this weekend we would be off to Burlingame. Ok, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but the Burlingame Museum of Pez Memorabilia definitely gives Burlingame, a tired little airport town, something big. We will add the museum to our "need to visit" list, especially if we end up at <a href+"http://www.jaunted.com/tag/SFO%20Airport">SFO a couple hours too early for a flight one of these days.
Related Stories:
· Hotels in Burlingame [HotelChatter]
· Museum Coverage [Jaunted]
· World's Biggest Pez Dispenser [Official Site]
