We're not going to say that sleeping in airports is uncomfortable. Everyone already knows that. We're here today to slam down the Bible, thumb our fist on the pulpit and do declare that there is a better way! There is hope for airport nappers! This hope is the Sleepbox and after spending several years as a popular concept and focus of design blogs, the Sleepbox has actually materialized as a physical, money-generating thing.

Just this week the first Sleepbox made its debut at Moscow-Sheremetyevo Airport and the international interest has been immediate. In all fairness, anything beating two luggages on the floor with a hoodie draped over them is a huge improvement. So now Sleepbox is accepting its first guests, offering rentals of 30 minutes to several hours while providing free WiFi, bunk beds, a folding desk, an LCD TV and "ventilation." Don't expect an ensuite bathroom, but do note that the bed sheets are automatically self-changing and there is luggage storage.

Raise your hand if you love airport hotels. Okay, if you did then maybe we need to have a chat. Airport hotels have long been realms of anxiety, loneliness, transience and the illicit. Many hotel brands are working to cure this, introducing jazzed-up new hotel chains to the airport area. We can think of Aloft, Four Points by Sheraton and Springhill Suites to name a few, but one of the originals is the Yotel. And now, for the first time, Yotel is branching out beyond airports to move into the city—New York City.

In 2007, the Yotels at London-Heathrow and London-Gatwick airports debuted. The Yotel Amsterdam-Schiphol happened in 2009. Now there were three alternative airport hotels, all super stylized but functional, and booked full. Where to go next? Where every success goes: The Big Apple. This month, Yotel opened a massive 669-room property in Midtown West, a few blocks from Times Square, with stays starting at $150 per night. When we are away from the Jaunted office, there’s a short list of things we look for in a hotel stay. We want something that’s comfortable, clean, and accessible to whatever we’re in town for. We’ll leave all the fancy pants stuff up to our sister site, Hotel Chatter; they’re way better at that than we are.

On our recent Charlotte Field Trip, we got to try out Hyatt’s new offering—Hyatt Place—and we were really digging it, so much so that we’re willing to trade in our usual love for Courtyard by Marriott and Hilton Garden Inn. Then you might be interested in heading on over to the Sheraton Gateway LAX Hotel. The hotel is kicking off JetSet Sundays on May 25, a weekly poolside event that will last through the summer.

The hotel's executive chef has put together an exotic sort of menu with Brazilian steak sandwiches and grilled eggplants with sesame and soy, so don't come looking for your standby faves of hot dogs and burgers. (There won't be any bocce bellas there, either.)
