We know it may be hard to believe, but it seems that Air New Zealand has finally tired of their naked flight attendants safety video, which you can see here. Now showing onboard their domestic 737 flights is a fresh and new airplane safety demonstration vid, one that features hunky rugby players. But don't worry, someone still gets naked in the end.

The rugby-themed video was filmed with a slew of famous faces (famous to Kiwis, at least) from the All Blacks team and their devoted fans. A brush with one of the players causes a fainting flight attendant to reach for an oxygen mask and thus we learn what to do when the masks drop down. In another small scene, an FA snaps a cell phone photo with a player, and then they instruct everyone to turn off electronics during takeoff and landings.

Like past videos and ad campaigns by Air New Zealand, the concept is fresh, modern and a little sexy. Too bad it's only on their domestic flights. Airlines have developed a suspicion - from where, we have no idea - that we passengers aren't really listening to their pre-flight safety instructions. Apparently they feel that their prerecorded soliloquies about emergency doors and water landings are being adhered to with something less than rapt attention.

In response, they're going out of their way to get passenger eyeballs onto video monitors. Virgin America changed up the game first with their cartoon safety instruction video which has tongue-in-cheek humor and shows a cute girl with a bad nicotine habit and a nun that is more plugged in than a 13-year-old boy.

And how could we forget Deltalina? In fact, we really wish we could forget the image of her botoxed face telling us to put on a seatbelt.

Now, everyone of course knows about Air New Zealand's new naked safety video, which we covered while it was being produced. The final commercial is currently inching its way toward 4 million views on YouTube. Reasonably attractive but suitably everyday male and female attendants in body paint. Dave the Rapping Flight Attendant has taken over the forward cabin with his preflight announcement. Learning how to buckle seatbelts and pay for booze on board has never been so fun—if you want another kinda drink just holla, alcoholic beverages will be four dollars. We've told you about Delta Airlines' "Safety Instructor" Deltalina who appears in the safety video that airs before every flight. Here's a snapshot of the video that we took back in October. Let's just say that when you're crammed into the seats in the coach cabin and Deltalina is just inches away from your face, it's a little hard to take.

We're not against plastic surgery or anything (we've admittedly started a "Botox Fund") but Deltalina is in danger of going the way of Nikki Cox. That said, we prefer the cartoon woman trying to get a nic fix on Virgin America's safety video. Or even Larry Kellner of Continental who's snoozy video always manages to make us sleep before take-off.
