Even though ABC has grounded new episodes of Pan Am until January 8, 2012, the show's stars are still busy shooting fresh scenes in New York City.
On Wednesday, December 7, Christina Ricci was spotted filming in a little black retro dress on the Upper East Side. Ricci, who plays Pan Am flight attendant Maggie Ryan in the series, also did some multitasking as she walked, smoked, and enjoyed a diet coke on the way to her trailer to change. ]]>
Did you ever wonder what it would be like to take a lie detector test? The Showtime series Homeland is giving New Yorkers a chance to find out this afternoon with free lie detector tests out of a van.
The Homeland "Surveillance Van," complete with polygraph machines and certified polygraph experts, will be parked near Bryant Park (possibly around back of the Bank of America building) in New York City today until 5 pm.
Participants will have the chance to take a real polygraph test while being prompted to lie according to an assigned character sheet. Everyone who tries the test will also get free Homeland downloads and t-shirts.

John Travolta might not be any use to KFC, but he does have something that the producers of Pan Am want.
In the pilot episode of the hit ABC show, Long Island's Republic Airport filled in for a Cuba airstrip, and this week it will play Haiti for a scene in an upcoming episode.
The cast and crew will spend three days (October 26-28) shooting night scenes on the airport tarmac, which are to be taking place during a 1960's coup.
They'll also be using a special aircraft for the shoot: John Travolta's Boeing 707. The plane normally sports the Qantas Airlines livery, but, for the scenes, will be covered in a vinyl wrap bearing the Pan Am markings.
The plane was expected to arrive at the airport yesterday, but so far there's been no word on whether or not Travolta delivered it himself.

New York Comic Con kicks off today at the Javits Center in New York City, but if you think it's too late to get tickets, think again.
This year's special guests at NYCC, which runs through Sunday, include comic legend Stan Lee, SNL's Seth Meyers, and director Kevin Smith. The 3-day schedule is also packed with lots of panels, screenings, costume contests, autograph signings and comics vendors. ]]>
Most of the drama on ABC's Pan Am takes place in the sky but the show is actually filmed on the ground, in New York City.
Pan Am uses the famous Steiner Studios in Brooklyn as their home base where they've painstakingly recreated the interiors of a vintage 1960's Pan Am 707 jetliner. Set designers pulled parts for the set from California's Mojave Desert where old planes are retired, duplicated china and silverware used on flights in the '60s, and even borrowed a piece of the cockpit panel from an aviation museum.]]>
Our dearly beloved Conan O'Brien will be taping his show at The Beacon Theatre in NYC from 10/31-11/3 and he's looking for a studio audience (along with a ride from the airport).
Since Conan, which is usually filmed in Los Angeles, will only be in New York for a few days the demand for tickets is high, but it's not hopeless. Tickets are being issued through an online lottery. ]]>
