There’s nothing more special than a bride’s big day, especially when that day takes place under the water. Pro Dive International, out of Ft. Lauderdale, is looking to get into the underwater wedding ceremony business. They’re recruiting priests and pastors to help facilitate their new service, but right now they are focusing on Jewish weddings—complete with the groom smashing a light bulb with his flipper.

The company is testing out using microphones underwater so that the bride and groom can clearly understand “I do.” Video is streamed back to the boat where friends and family can watch, and of course, wonder why their loved ones chose this unique kind of wedding. As long as there’s an open bar, we're sure an underwater wedding is just as good as any other.

For now the dive shop is getting everything ready, but they expect that full wedding packages will be available soon. They’re thinking that things will start at $1,500, and like most weddings, the price will go up from there depending on what you want. At least you can cut out the cost for flowers at a SCUBA wedding, but a nice bouquet of seaweed and algae should compliment any color wetsuit.

The newly reunited New Kids on the Block are jumping on the celebrity cruise meme, planning their own sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale on May 15. The four-day trip will make a stop in the Bahamas, and apparently the booze will be flowing, Joey McIntyre tells People:

We're not going to be drinking piņa coladas, we'll be serving them.

Further details on the cruise are still sketchy, but the Kids have apparently been keeping up with the competition, mentioning how their trip will be superior to similar celeb sailings from John Mayer and John Legend. McIntyre goes so far as to report:

Our manager tells us this is not a cheesy thing.

Lauderdale in her suitcase. According to a customs spokeswoman, the package contained a skull as well as "teeth, hair and bits of skin and lots of dirt," Gonzalez said. The head, to be used as part of voodoo ceremonies, was to help ward off evil, but the woman faces now charges of "smuggling a human head into the U.S. without proper documentation, failure to declare the head, and transporting hazardous material in air commerce."

We always enjoy hearing about the old becoming new and hip again (think jellie shoes and shag haircuts). This time it's Ft. Lauderdale, the MTV spring break has-been locale is reinvented into a balmy new south Florida getaway.

The Times shows us around the new Ft. Lauderdale and all its hotspots. Not only has the beach undergone a $26 million renovation, but there's great museums like the Int'l Swimming Hall of Fame and galleries are springing up all over.

Stay at the Atlantic where the rooms are sleek with minikitchens in every one. In 2006, there will also be a St. Regis and a W Hotel to choose from.

Ah, we just love rebirths...think how far we've come since Spring Break '87...
