But the show must go on, and tonight brings former presidential candidate Fred Thompson and former Democrat Joe Lieberman to the stage. Meanwhile John McCain is defending his campaign team's vetting of Sarah Palin after this weekend brought news that the Alaska governor's 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.
After meeting with firefighters in Philadelphia today, the presumptive Republican nominee will make his way to Minneapolis-St. Paul to accept his party's nomination. After the RNC wraps on September 4, he, his wife and Governor Palin will set off on a "Road to Victory" starting in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama told his staff to lay off Palin's daughter as he stumped in Monroe, Michigan yesterday. The newly nominated candidate plans to spend the rest of the week in Chicago planning future campaign stops. The 73rd annual St. Paul Rodeo is riding into town July 2. In addition to the usual rodeo festivities, there's a Western showcase featuring artisans selling jewelry, paintings, home goods and clothing.
If you come hungry, or are just a great backyard chef, July 5 offers a BBQ cook-off. The judges are looking for creativity, a fun team name and, of course, melt-in-your-mouth ribs. Prizes up for grabs are tickets to the rodeo, trophies, bragging rights and a trip around the rodeo ring as champion.
The cheap seats start at $12 each night. And, yes, even though they aren't the main attraction, there will be fireworks every night.
Related Stories:
· St. Paul Rodeo [Official Site]
· Fourth of July coverage [Jaunted]

WiFi Wednesday: MSP Is Free, Sort Of

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, a major NWA hub, may have recently declared its space free and fair ground for travelers returning home with duty free booze, but internerds at MSP are not in quite as much luck. They're still stuck with standard-issue pay-to-play WiFi in most areas of the terminals. According to TravelPost, it's either Bongo or Concourse service, which means daily rates of $6.95-$7.95.

That pales in comparison to the worst of hotel WiFi rip-offs, but it's hardly as sexy as the free stuff, of course. While MSP won't be giving it up for free anytime soon, you can skirt the rules by leeching off of one of two Northwest Airlines clubs at the airport. There's one in concourse C and another in the F/G area (see map with key here).

Related Stories:
· MSP Airport [Official Site]
· Duty Free Drinks OK in MSP Cabs [Jaunted]
