Football Rivalry Travel: Bearcats and Panthers Play For The Paddlewheel

The weather is getting cooler, and college football is going strong. Here’s the scoop on just one of the country’s best rivalries to help your sports travel planning.
· Rivalry Match-Up: The University of Cincinnati at the University of Pittsburgh on December 5
Cincinnati and Pittsburgh played a few times in the roaring '20s, but after that there weren’t many on-field battles until 2005. That year Cincinnati joined the Big East conference and a new rivalry was born.
It’s one of college football’s newest rivalries and solid play is making it one of the best. The two schools even used their academic abilities to design a snazzy new trophy to boost the competition. The Paddlewheel Trophy—named in honor of paddleboats that ran between the two cities—went to Cincinnati last year, and we’re thinking they’ll snag it again this year. However, Pitt does lead the River City Rivalry series, so anything can happen when the two teams meet.
Stadium Info and tips on where to sleep and party, after the jump.

At 95 years young, he's the world's oldest bartender, but he plans to finally throw in the bar towel some time in the next couple of weeks. As an interesting AP story points out, Cammarata served his first drink - a bottle of Fort Pitt beer - at his father's grocery store just moments after Prohibition was repealed in 1933. Police, who has barricaded several streets so that fans could celebrate without jumping on cars, reported no major incidents, just a few good-natured couch fires.
Down in Tampa, the Super Bowl itself went off with minimal bad behavior, as less than 30 fans were arrested, including two who tried to snatch someone else's tickets and sneak their way into the big game, and one particularly drunk driver who somehow managed to drive her way into a police horse.
Ah, the Super Bowl, gotta love a night that includes couch fires, driving into a horse, and dozens of arrests, but is considered surprisingly orderly.
· Que Crawl [Canadian Press]
· Most Super Bowl fans well behaved [ABC]
· Super Bowl XLIII coverage [Jaunted]
