Move over Sports Illustrated! Cosmopolitan magazine's pulling together the ultimate bathing suit spread. The pub's announced that it plans to assemble 1,200 bathing suit clad beauties at Miami's Nikki Beach April 18 for a major photo shoot.

The ladies will spell out "Cosmo" on the sand with their bodies while photogs stage an aerial shoot to catch it all. They'll look cute too, as Old Navy is donating all the bathing suits for the massive pic and Nivea's got any semblance of cellulite covered with its new cream. They don't joke around with four-page spreads. Want to go? Nivea is also sponsoring a sweepstakes for a winning trip to Miami for the shoot and hosting Webisodes of the event on its site shortly.

If you really have to be there, plan ahead for a weekend getaway and check into the Tides, a stunning SB hotspot, where we're sure there'll be some Cosmo chicks hanging out in their off hours...

It just isn't Art Basel until someone's crying. This weekend, that someone was Paris Hilton--who knew she was so moved by art?

Nah, we're kidding. Hilton made her first appearance at the opening party in South Beach on Wednesday night, where she caused a scene over Greek ex-boyfriend and party host Stavros Niarchos, even reportedly punching his date! (Paris and Stavros met up in Miami last year under better terms; she had been dating a Swedish model, while he has been linked to Mary-Kate Olsen.) What is the allure of the man Go Fug Yourself refers to as "Stabby Nachos"? Well, his $275 million inheritance from his family's shipping company, perhaps.

The phrase "most important art show in the United States," when placed next to "Miami Beach", makes us uncomfortable, because Miami is the city that brought us The Birdcage, Miami Sound Machine and Perez Hilton. But from December 6-9, Miami switches from sweltering to sophisticated, playing host to Art Basel Miami Beach, arguably the country's most noteworthy art fair.

Now in its 6th year, Art Basel Miami Beach has added an additional 18 satellite shows to its roster. In addition to events taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, the fair's newest additions have elbowed into Art Basel's already jam-packed list of events. Depending upon your area of interest in the arts, the fair doesn't need to be so overwhelming. We've broken down a few of the newest additions that are worth checking out.

Like pretty much everything else in the city, Art Basel Miami Beach is loud, proud, overpriced and decked out in white. Still, it's one of the top parties on the international art circuit. If you are a jet-setter or just want to play one for a weekend, there's no place else you should be December 6 to 9.

An extension of the celebrated Art Basel show in Switzerland, the Miami Beach version inundates 200 galleries with the work of 2,000 artists and the attitudes of countless more buyers and hangers-on. Snatching up the hottest stuff from the bleeding edge of contemporary art is important but so too is hanging around eating canapes. (Or not eating canapes, depending on whether you have a modeling contract.)

One of the best venues is "Art Positions", a collection of shipping containers set up as galleries right next to the beach. New York's PS1 is organizing the DJs, films will play under the stars and on the eve of the event, December 5, a rollicking concert will kick things off.

Consider it the perfect event for insomniacs, people stuck working the graveyard shift or anyone who just loves a good all nighter of the partying variation: Sleepless Night.

Taking place on Nov. 3rd on Miami Beach, this event is a thirteen-hour party. Seriously. Sure, they throw in some "cultural" stuff like dance performances, concerts, art installations and "blush-inducing" acrobats. But this is all about appeasing your inner party monster:

Coupled with the bonus hour from the time change and the participation of businesses citywide, this event will be a complete cultural takeover and celebration of the 25th hour.

You will not want Sleepless Night to end. One adventurous night of daring and innovative entertainment--all free--at indoor and outdoor venues concentrated into four areas of Miami Beach: North Beach, Collins Park, Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive. Traveling theater shuttle buses transport insomniac participants to and from the four zones of activity.

The Shelborne hotel is the event's sponsor hotel and they are offering ocean front rooms for $207 that night. Also, the National Hotel has put together some package that includes dinner, breakfast and cabaret-watching for $453 that night. But if most of the food and shows that are part of the festival are free, then this might be a rip-off. Plus you gotta save your money for the Red Bull.

A tipster over at HotelChatter, our big sister site, is reporting that a tall, dark haired girl in giant shades left the continuously under construction future site of Nicky O in a huff today.

So unless Nicky Hilton has a Padme type decoy clone, it sounds like all is not fine in the world of Nicky O South Beach.

Shocking, right? This project has been more hype than reality since the very beginning, and earlier this week, developer Robert Falor seemed to be preparing his bail out strategy when talking to the Miami Herald.

No official word from the Nicky O peeps yet, but celebrity hotel projects are never the slam dunks they appear to be on Letterman (scroll down).

Jessica Alba spent the first week of 2007 being photographed over and over again in different bikinis on Miami Beach and she gave one kid the ultimate travel story.

Fratire site DoubleViking.com wrote an open letter to the kid, saluting him:

Put the goggles you wore on eBay. List them as "Goggles Worn When I Saw Jessica Alba In A Bikini" and set the minimum bid at $10,000. And then watch them sell. For a million bucks. You're probably thinking, but wait, they didn't even touch Alba, who's gonna buy them?" Kid, ohhh kid. The same sun rays that were baking the sweet, supple perfection that is Jessica Alba's ass passed through those goggles.

You saw Jessica Alba swim by...and lived to fight another day. Alba in a bikini is like a modern day version of a medieval dragon...mythical, amazing...and dangerous as hell.

There were plenty of reasons to go to Miami Beach before we came across this photo, but from the ear to ear grin on this kid's face, it appears Miami Beach may have just travel acquired a life long customer.
