If you've had your travel plans disrupted by one of the many recent volcanoes, here's your chance to learn exactly how they work, and why they're becoming such a nuisance. Volcano Discovery is hosting several trips this year for small groups of novice vulcanologist, including an exhibition to the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii.
During the trip, participants will spend their time studying volcanic activity with an experienced vulcanologist guide. The Kilauea volcano is considered the most active in the world and also features the longest known continuous lava tube, making it one of the best places on earth to learn about volcanoes.
The five day trip will take place between September 25-29 and costs $1790, which includes hotel costs, breakfast, dinner and transportation daily. Air transportation is not included.
How the Hawaii Tsunami Watch Will See Only a Wave of Tourists

On Saturday, after the catastrophic earthquake in Chile, places that might be in the path of a resulting tsunami battened down the hatches and awaited the waves. One of these places was Hawaii, which instead of having everyone run inside and pray that the wave would leave then high and dry, sent reporters to the beaches and trained livecams on the surf so that the world could watch for the tsunami, too.
Although a massive wave never arrived in favor of some tidal ebbing and flowing, what Hawaii did get were millions of eyes trained on its gorgeous beaches and water. People were excited; their heartrates went up as they eagerly watched the water rapidly rush out of Hilo Bay, like seen in the livecam capture above, and we couldn't help but think what priceless tourism marketing this is for Hawaii. And we weren't alone:

Paradise Lost

Helen Mirren is currently filming a new adaptation of Shakespeare's "The Tempest" on the big island of Hawaii. For the past week or so they have been shooting at McKenzie State Park, 25 miles southeast of Hilo. The 13-acre park offers picnicking, fishing and beautiful views of the volcanic coastline.
Sounds perfect, right? Not so fast. While the cast and crew were working on Friday, a body with gunshot wounds was found on the shore of the park. The police didn't question anyone involved with the movie since they were working quite far from where the corpse was found, but they do believe the man was shot earlier that day.
Elsewhere, if we've learned anything since our On Location series started, it's that movies and TV shows film around airports way more than we would've imagined. Two weeks ago, Natalie Portman was filming "Love and Other Impossible Pursuits" at JFK; Friday, "Middle Man" starring Luke Wilson was filming near LAX; and today, "Fringe" is filming at LaGuardia. So if you're catching a flight, you may want to be on the look out for any paranormal activity.
If you have any tips about where movies or TV shows are filming, send them our way at tips@jaunted.com.
Related Stories:
· Body Found at Big Island Beach Park [Star Bulletin]
· George Gets Heated at White Sands [Jaunted]
· Natalie Portman Takes Flight in NYC [Jaunted]
