World's Scariest Roller Coasters: Six Flags New England's Bizarro, during Fright Fest

Halloween has hit theme parks across the country, but there are only a few weeks left before things go into hibernation for the winter. With zombies and werewolves lurking behind every corner, some coasters have become even scarier. We took a look around, and here’s what we found:

The leaves have started to change color in the Northeast, but there’s still a few weekends left to enjoy the summer season at Six Flags New England. Superman: Ride of Steel was always the park’s best coaster, but a couple years ago it got even better—and even scarier—as it transformed into Bizarro. It seems like pretty much every year Amusement Today picks this coaster as one of the best around, so you won’t be disappointed.

Flame effects, fog tunnels, and a 220-foot drop followed by twists and turns at 77 mph are just a few of the things that you’ll need to pass through in order to survive. We’ve been on this beast prior to its recent facelift, and we have to say that it's half fun and half terrifying. The lift hill is actually pretty relaxing, and we swear you can see for miles around on a clear day, but after that it’s all downhill—literally.

Fright Fest has hit Six Flags parks all around the country, and Six Flags New England is no exception. The scary stuff is a weekends only event, but that doesn’t mean they’ve started to close things down. The place has transformed itself into an escape for all ghouls and ghosts, and they’re not looking to make friends with park visitors. After surviving Bizzaro, swing by the Showdown in Tombstone Territory where a pair of bad guys are looking to commit one more crime—so you better hide more than just your trick-or-treat bag.

Riding one of the world’s most intense coasters during the spookiest season won’t cost you too much, as tickets are only $33 for any weekend day between now and Halloween. Just remember to bring some friends to distribute the parking charge, as it’s a steep $15 per vehicle.
