While the summer is in its prime and you're no doubt tired of chugging bottled water under the sun at tourist sites, we're going to hit some of the world's best watering holes and down their famous summer cocktails across our Summer Cocktails Map. Bottoms up!

Celebrate USA's World Cup win today against Algeria with the most American-sounding cocktail we can think of: the American Pie. Technically the details of the cherry-red drink were ironed out by Food Channel chef Guy Fieri, but that doesn't make us love it less; it just means that to balance out the newness of the recipe, you should drink it back surrounded by some good old historical Americana.

Our recommendation? Belly up to the Pied Piper Bar at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Inside, amongst dark wood walls and high booths, you'll find a famous Maxfield Parrish painting of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, surely appropriate for a cocktail called the "American Pie."

Since this recipe is something a bit new and a bit fresh and summery, you might want to pass it across the bar to the bartender to make sure you get exactly what you want and not something creamier and tasting closer to pumpkin pie. Or just make it home with the recipe below:

· Add 1/2 cup of Canadian whiskey, a 1/2 cup of apple liqueur, and 1 cup of cranberry juice to a cocktail shaker.
· Add 2 cups of ice to the shaker and shake well.
· Pour into 2 short rocks glasses like those pictured above
· Garnish with a fresh, red apple slice and serve
