Everyone knows that Rockefeller Center’s Christmas tree has a trademark on the holiday season, but this week we’re ferreting out spruces and firs that might be even better.

If you’re looking to spend your Christmas somewhere a little warmer this year, there’s always Australia. The city of Sydney is dressed up in elaborate holiday projections with everything from giant presents to a gingerbread house on the side of Town Hall.

There will be colorful holiday floral displays around the city, too. Hey, if your Christmas season falls during the summer, why not celebrate with some nice plants? Even the city’s streets are getting in on the holiday action. Over 1500 colorful banners decorated with symbols of Australia will be hung throughout downtown.

Of course they have a really good Christmas tree as well. We missed the concert and lighting party for the Martin Place tree late last month, but there’s still plenty going on. Each night the 65-foot tree has its LED lights fired up as visitors and locals alike stop by to take in the season. The tree is topped with a five-foot tall Southern Cross Star to show all that this really is an Australian Christmas tree.
