The Chicken Box
More than 50 years ago, Kentucky born Willie House transformed their old domestic servants quarters into a fried chicken hot spot.
The Chicken Box soon became known as the hotel spot for live music--even Muddy Waters appeared here.
Fast forward three decades and three ownership regimes and the Chicken Box still the spot on the island to see live music.
Flickr member la lumire verte may have said it best, "the Chicken Box, where critter pants and a sweater over your shoulders is the norm. "
Live music three days a week June - August.

The Boarding House
During dinner hours, this place is known to pull a fairly local crowd of Nantucket players, but come after hours things here can get lively.
When the restaurant and hospitality workers get off work, many head here, looking to spend their giant wads of tip cash to get good and cocked.
Run by Seth and Angela Raynor, and chef overseer Erin Zircher, the Boarding House is able to combine stellar cuisine with top notch late night tomfoolery. A rare combination, don't you think?

The Club Car
Skip dinner and go right to drinks at the Club Car bar.
Open from the middle of May until December, the Club Car is the last remaining rail car from the old 1800's island railroad system.
The bar is tiny, to the point of claustrophobic, but they managed to squeeze a piano man into the corner, which is downright amazing considering the car's size. In any event the smallness and piano music make this a great place for quiet drinks early or late night. If you go, try a Triple Eight and Tonic. Triple Eight vodka is made at Cisco Brewers, the islands most famous brewery.
