Fall TV 2008: "Easy Money" Is a Hard Sell

Jaunted is planning our fall travel with some help from the networks. Check out our Fall TV 2008 Map to go where your new favorite characters go.

How about a little topical humor? The slimy sorts on "Easy Money" (October 5, 9 pm) are a family of loan sharks who make their living lyin' and cheatin', but always getting out before the bill comes due.

Laurie Metcalf is the matriarch behind Prestige Payday Loans, run day-to-day by her two sons in the "Southwest" town of "South Nile." (Given how hard the housing market has hit the region, we'd place this operation in Stockton or Merced, California, although payday loan operations thrive everywhere.)

Between the law and the competition wrought by the new loan sharks on the block, it's all the Buffkin family can do to keep feeding the beast.

This ne'er-do-well dramedy is part of the CW's attempt to keep itself solvent by selling its Sunday night to Media Rights Capital (producers of "Babel," which resembles "Easy Money" not at all), so don't expect a parade of svelte teens a la "Gossip Girl" or "90210." Just in case you like that sort of thing.
