Apparently the cause of all this struggle was so that ABC could have time to clean up its remake, also called "Life on Mars" (October 9, 10 pm), starring former "Grey's Anatomy" bear victim Jason O'Mara as NYPD detective Sam Tyler.
Originally announced sometime in 2006, the sci-fi procedural has moved from LA to New York City and gone through a major cast change, picking up Gretchen Mol as a defiant female rookie on the force, Michael Imperioli as Sam's brash rival and Harvey "Pabst. Blue. Ribbon!" Keitel as the commanding lieutenant.
Delays indicate this series will be DOA, but even if it falls on its face, maybe it will inspire the BBC to release the originals here. We just love those wide lapels!
