Could This Be NYC's Best Irish Pub, Part III

The owners of Ryan's Irish Pub in NYC seem to have cornered the market on Celtic suds sales in the East Village. The folks who own Ryan's also manage The Thirsty Scholar on the same block of Second Avenue and Bull McCabe's around the corner on St. Mark's Place.
Each bar has its distinguishing characteristics. In summer, Ryan's outdoor seating draws New Yorkers still hooked on booze AND nicotine. It also maintains its authenticity by only offering authentic Irish beers.
A few steps away, The Thirsty Scholar has a fancier cocktails selection, great happy hour specials, and free food. Caveat: it's also authentic Irish (read: flavorless), and usually involves a cold platter of mashed potatoes and some wilted cabbage.
Finally, Bull McCabe's is the hidden winner. Patrons can gawk at the wacky St. Mark's Place folk strolling down the street, or duck behind the bar in the outdoor beer garden. A pool table and a jukebox are added bonuses.
