Since the Amazing Race returned to its "Classic Coke" format, we figured we would give the show a proper mashup. his map will update every week in the days after the show.  Send along tips, rumors, gossip, locations and spoilers to our map editors, become a member and comment on the stories below, and add to the Jaunted-Flickr photo pool to get in on the fray.  Enjoy.

Episode 2

Last night we got to witness some things we wanted to see--the Nerds conduct a science experiment, some things we knew we would see--the Jocks hitting on the Double Ds, and some things we never need to see again--a sixty year old frail women dangling from a rope.  Wake up in São Paulo Brazil rush off to the Edificio Copan building, only to find out you are in for a day of hurry up and wait.  Yup, that sounds about right for the second leg of "a race around the world."  Once our heros boarded the slow bus out of São Paulo things began to get interesting.

The ten remaining teams headed 150 miles to Brotas,  on the Jacaré-Pepira river, one of the few non polluted rivers in the state.  The thing to do in Brotas? River oriented adventure sports, of course.  The teams piled into beat up VW bugs and had to choose between ascending up a rope through a waterfall, or processing raw sugar cane into 5 ml of ethanol--you'll never guess what the Nerds decided to do.

The teams that didn't choose the ethanol experiment had to hike 421 meters down Usina Jacaré and then climb back up a 90 foot waterfall, using a rope.  If you feel the need to try a similar climb next time you are in Brotas, you can do so through the Alaya Adventure Center--something tells us Fran won't be first in line for seconds on that climb.  It was extremely disturbing to watch a frail sixty year old women rope climb, however listening to Lake climb the rope next to her was far more disturbing.

While the casual observer might might think Eric & Jeremy are two wild and crazy guys looking for some foxy ladies, we have to ask, are these two hiding something?  We overheard Jermey say "I can't wait to put on speedos" on the way to the waterfall climb, and Jeremy blatantly smacked his "friend" Eric in the ass later in the race.  Latent?  We will watch these two closely as the race progresses.

Oh, and did you catch Phil raising his eyebrow in disgust as Jeremy shouted "Phil do you know how cranky I am right now, I'm gonna smack you woman."  The only time we can remember seeing that much disdain on Phil's face is when Jon shoved Victoria in Berlin.
So what did we learn last night?

Lake's wife Michelle also wears a scopolamine patch to prevent motion sickness, but they only traveled by bus this leg, so what gives? Could they have been abducted by aliens?  Could the US government have implanted a microchip in the Dentist and his wife?  Or could bus rides also make these two nauseous?  The sixty somethings proved once and for all that the oldest team always ends up lasting longer than you think they will.

Best Conversation:

Lake: I am overdone with Spanish.

Michelle: It's Portugese.

Final Thoughts:

Glamazons, Sisters, it just wasn't meant to be.

For the record, we are currently pulling for Ray & Yolanda, but it is still early.
