According to the comments on tech gossip site Valleywag, Tyler, of James and Tyler is the son of Buck's Cafe owner Jamis MacNiven.

Not true. Why is this important? Two reasons.

First, Valleywag has the wrong Tyler. Tyler MacNiven, not Tyler Denk is the son of the Buck's of Woodside owner. Tyler Denk, was one of the winners of Amazing Race 10, while Tyler MacNiven was part of the hippie duo that won Amazing Race 9. They are both pictured semi-nude above, we will let y'all figure out who's who.

Second, the son of the Buck's Cafe owner doesn't need the one million dollar Amazing Race prize. Tyler Mac's dad has most definitely got in on plenty of friend's and family pre-ipo shares--from Google to EBay, we are guessing. On the contrary, Tyler Denk, the real recovering drug addict, most definitely could use the cash. According to the internets, Tyler Denk was homeless and extremely poor when he was "discovered" by a photographer and became a male model.

As for Buck's Cafe, the Woodside venture capitalist haunt is definitely Jaunted post worthy, but you will have to wait on that one, after all, we think you will agree, setting the record straight on the Amazing Race Tylers is far more important than what Bill Gurley eats for breakfast.

Update: Just in case you are still confused about the Tylers, we posted a photo of hippie Tyler MacNiven dressed up like a geshia here. Clear now? Good.

It's been an amazing thirteen weeks of television, kids! Alliances have been created and then broken, teams have been burdened with vehicular mishaps and tough physical challenges...some teams grew closer, and some utterly dissolved. As Phil takes us through the edited clips of the past thirteen weeks, a tear came to our collective eyes here at Jaunted. Remember those teams from the first episode? We don't remember half these people...and they're on the opening credits each week. Oh Vipul and Arti, what's become of you?

Rob and Kimberly have bickered their way through the race, all the while dealing with some pretty rotten automotive karma. Still, they're in the top three, and one could argue that all the divisiveness propelled them to where they are now. That, and Rob's hot Salt-N-Pepa beard. Lyn and Karlyn have persevered to become the first all-female team in Amazing Race history (and what a glorious history it is), while Tyler's and James' competitive spirit, physical prowess and awesome grooming propelled them into the final three. But, only one team will win a million dollars and THE AMAZING RACE. Join us for the final jaunt after the jump!

When we last left our intrepid racers, they were bedded down with some Bedouins just off the Road to Marrakech...literally. The models, Tyler and James, are off first admiring the Moroccan sunrise and plotting the demise of DuKat. Rob and Kimberly bounce back from their flat tire, while Bama gets sweet, sweet karmic revenge on DuKat, who yielded them. Will Rob and Kimberly pull it together? Will Lyn and Karlyn sass their way through the rest of the race? Will Dustin and Kandice succumb to bad karma after their botched yield? Will Tyler and James finally get busy? Answers, and more snarky comments, after the jump!

Beware the curse of the Casablanca idol. While no one has been the victim of a terrible surf accident just yet, we bet in the coming weeks that little Moroccan idol will be the undoing of one team. With only four teams remaining, things are getting fierce between beauty queens Dustin and Kandice and, well, about everyone else. With the lovable Cho Brothers off the course, will anyone do the right thing? Will Rob and Kimberly continue to be cursed by every car they jump into? And can Lyn and Karlyn hang tough without the help of the now-eliminated Six Pack? Answers, and maybe some leftovers, after the jump!

What do tanks, tuxedos and Tchaikovsky have in common? They're all sullied on the latest episode of TAR. Only five teams are still racing, and the 'Bama girls are somehow still in this thing, but probably not for long. The Six Pack alliance--already without Dave and Mary--gets seriously tested in the Chernobyl glow. The Barbies--who've always been cutthroat--are looking to become the first female only team to win the race. Will nice guys Erwin and Godwin be able to hang? Will Rob and Kimberly overcome the car trouble that plagues them in the previews? And will we ever be able to mention tanks and Russian composers in the same sentence? Find out after the jump!

Dave and Mary's Amazing Race Parlay

November 20, 2006 at 8:00 AM | by | Comments (0)

Perhaps Nice Guys, or in this case, Nice People do finish first.

That's what Amazing Race contestants David and Mary are probably thinking as last week Rosie O'Donnell and the View gifted the ousted duo with a new three-bedroom house and a new car among other gifts, solely because Rosie loved how nice they were to their teammates and other people they encountered on the show. Nice haul, considering David and Mary used to live in a trailer (which Rosie promptly urged them to donate to someone who needs it).

The above clip is long, but things start to get good at the 5:30 mark when Rosie begins showering the couple with compliments, then gifts. Also, we learn that David actually tried out for Survivor first but they instead recommended him for Amazing Race--ouch. Given the number of mining and digging related challenges so far on the race, we'd say Dave ended up on the right show. With the amount of backstabbing Lyn and Karlyn of Team 'Bama are perpetrating, though, maybe a practice round with the Survivors would've come in handy.

After Dave and Mary's long-overdue exit last week, the Amazing Race is shaping up to be quite a contest, but we don't remember Dave and Mary dying, did they? Two teams were acting as if the Kentucky power couple had passed away and end up dedicating their race "in memory of Dave & Mary". The remaining "live" teams leave steamy Madagascar for Finland, will Lyn and Karlyn's alliance with the Cho Brothers keep them in the race? Will Rob and Kimberly keep saying "bro" and "dude" with abandon? Will Tyler and James be able to tackle the muddy obstacle course or will they be left in the muck? We sort out all the dirty details after the jump.

Apparently things were getting a little too comfortable for the racers because this week the producers jump in with a brilliant new twist: the Intersection. Its a new challenge for the race and forces groups of frienemies to work together. Will the Barbies be forced to work together with their mortal enemies Lyn and Karlyn? Will the Cho Brothers stop being so gosh-darn lovable? Would coal-mining Dave and Mary make it to the pit stop in time to avoid elimination after coming in last a week ago? Jump away as we head to Madagascar to find out.

To be honest, we didn't know what to expect after last week left us without "the bionic Spiderwoman" and Creepy Petey. Would our skin continue to crawl? Would any female racers break down in tears at the slightest provocation? Would any racer kick back in a raft with a frosty beverage while his teammate climbed a limestone cliff?

With Sarah and Peter off the show, Dustin and Kandice are now the dirty rotten scoundrels of this race. Call them the Barbies, call them DuKa or, if you're Lyn and Karlyn, call them much, much worse, they're taking the world by storm with peroxide hair and vicious beauty pageant attitudes. How on Earth we ended up in this situation, after the jump.

Amazing Race 10: Peter Says She's Just A Friend

A reality show is always fertile ground for politics and backstabbing, but damn, this week's episode had back-room bargaining galore, didn't it? Here's how it's playing out: The alliance between the Barbies and Creepy Petey and Sarah collapsed last week. The other race cabal is going strong. The Karma Chameleons of Lyn, Karlyn, Dave, Mary and the Cho brothers are working together for everyone's benefit. (Who's not secretly rooting for the Cho Brothers? Seriously, integrity and reality television are an unusual mix.) Dave and Mary have to come in first this week because of a new rule twist. And Creepy Petey and Sarah seem to have chit-chatted and worked on their wacky relationship. They're eager to get on the road, says Petey: "Even on our worst day, we're better than some of the teams in the back." Jump away, race fans, to find out if this, and so many more ridiculous predictions, come true.

This week's edition of the million-dollar-race-around-the-world keeps the creep on. Petey and Sarah keep up their bizarre relationship--sort of, including lots of shady behavior from Joe Simpson doppelganger Peter. Rob and Kimberly manage to go a week without fighting like crazy, but did the race turn his hair gray overnight, or is it us? The honest Cho brothers tell us they're in the race for the experience not the money. Dave and Mary on the other hand? They running around the world for the cold hard cash, and the kids. After the jump, the full rundown on all the happenings, financial or otherwise.

When last we saw our globetrotting teams, they said goodbye to Duke and his (no longer estranged?) daughter Lauren in a rice paddy in Vietnam. After last week's complete snooze-fest, we were ready for some real action. And boy, did Phil and Co. deliver this week. Sarah and creepy Petey are about as far from dating as we can imagine. Dustin and Kandice continue to promote beauty queen stereotypes of both the brains and bitchiness persuasions. And Rob and Kimberly do more screaming than ever before--we didn't think we'd see the day! A full run-down, complete with the dirty details of all the challenges, is after the jump.
