Jaunted Blowback: Delta's Illiteracy Problem

September 26, 2006 at 9:35 AM | 0 Comments

Delta's new in-flight entertainment system is not pleasing everyone. Sure, they've caught up with JetBlue by offering in-flight TV and pay-per-view movies on longer-haul domestic flights--it's like they've leapfrogged into the 90s! Unfortunately, not all passengers can enjoy the entertainment system. After the jump, read a letter Jaunted received from one passenger who points out that the lack of closed captioning on Delta's system means deaf passengers are only getting half the experience as the rest of the people on-board.

Delta offers free tv shows/games/etc in first class and coach for 4 hours or more, but the real problem is that there is no closed captioning for the hearing-impaired passengers. Since it is free, what do deaf passengers get?... Delta also offers movies (and you have to pay for them) but they don't provide closed captioning for the deaf passengers on the movies, either. Why can't they do something about it?

Is there something you wish airlines would do differently? Let us know!
