We've mentioned before that kangaroos have been spotted hopping around as far from Australia as France, Austria and the Netherlands, but this week we heard that the Hangzhou Safari Park in China has helped a kangaroo that couldn't hop around anymore by giving it an artificial leg.

Unsurprisingly the Hangzhou crew claim this as the world's first artificial limb on a kangaroo (can anyone dispute this?). Apparently a regular human artificial limb factory produced this roo leg to replace what had to be amputated after a run-in with a car.

Unfortunately, Hangzhou Safari Park is very proud to have:
An open leisure sighting mode which fully shows the harmonious co-existing of man, animal and the nature.
Obviously in this case of this limping kangaroo man (and his machines) and animals didn't co-exist quite so harmoniously. If you're visiting Hangzhou, do drive carefully. We're not sure if artificial limbs for rhinos and pandas are quite so easy to produce.
