What MySpace Money Buys: Jessica Simpson's Kuwait Trip

Today Jessica Simpson is headlining the Operation MySpace concert in Kuwait, but is her performance going to be worth the boatloads of money it is going to cost to get Jessica from the US to Kuwait and back, at a comfort level she is accustom to?

According to those omniscient "sources," a private plane will take Simpson, her dad, and her hairstylist, Ken Paves, to Kuwait for approximately $150,000. Once in Kuwait "sources" claim Jessica will be unlikely to bunk with the troops and more likely to sleep in a proper hotel bed. Oh and Paves gets a whopping $10,000 a day just for waking up in Kuwait, so say sources. Damn. Thank God for all that MySpace cash Murdoch gave Tom, huh?

Somehow we knew the girl that was photographed about to put her dog through an x-ray machine didn't hop on the first available Jazeera Airways flight to Kuwait.

Jazeera Airways Happily Profitable in Kuwait

True low cost carriers in the Middle East are few and far between, but the Kuwait-based Jazeera Airways has been a proper budget carrier since it started operations in October 2005. The funny thing is that despite having cheap fares, the people's oracle reports that it made a $8.7 million profit during 2006--not bad for its first full year.

Jazeera has Kuwait as its main hub but also serves Dubai and Queen Aliah (Jordan) airports extensively. Flights head all around the Middle East and further afield, including destinations in Lebanon, Iran and Morocco.

This week's big promotion is Happy Hour, when tickets are cheaper at certain times; the specials are on seven hours a day, which is quite a happy hour in our book. The Happy Hour wraps November 29, so you'll have to log in fast if you want to nab an especially cheap flight around the Middle East.

A reality show is always fertile ground for politics and backstabbing, but damn, this week's episode had back-room bargaining galore, didn't it? Here's how it's playing out: The alliance between the Barbies and Creepy Petey and Sarah collapsed last week. The other race cabal is going strong. The Karma Chameleons of Lyn, Karlyn, Dave, Mary and the Cho brothers are working together for everyone's benefit. (Who's not secretly rooting for the Cho Brothers? Seriously, integrity and reality television are an unusual mix.) Dave and Mary have to come in first this week because of a new rule twist. And Creepy Petey and Sarah seem to have chit-chatted and worked on their wacky relationship. They're eager to get on the road, says Petey: "Even on our worst day, we're better than some of the teams in the back."
