Visit Doc Brown's House For The 25th Anniversary of 'Back to the Future'

October 20, 2010 at 8:28 AM | by | Comments (0)

This year is the 25th anniversary of one of our favorite movies—Back to the Future. Michael J. Fox and company reunited last night on the Spike network to celebrate the occasion, and they’re stamping out plenty of Blu-ray Discs in advance of the movie’s release in high definition next week. Since we can’t travel back to 1955 to see some of the movie’s filming locations, we’re suggesting a visit to Doc Brown’s mansion instead.

Doc Brown’s Arts and Crafts style home isn’t really in Hill Valley, but it’s actually in the real life town of Pasadena. It was famous before the movie, as it is The Gamble House, and it is listed as a National Historic Landmark. If the name of the house sounds familiar—that’s because it should—it’s Gamble as in Procter and Gamble.

Pasadena's Sidewalk Chalk Festival Goes Beyond Hopscotch Squares

June 3, 2010 at 12:40 PM | by | Comments (0)

We already have a few good ideas of where to spend Father’s Day with dear ol’ dad, but there’s one more great getaway we want to suggest as well. For dads that are fans of art and the outdoors, the Pasadena Chalk Festival is a great event for taking in some unique artwork while spending the day in the warm California sun. It’s open and free to all on June 19 and 20, so you can save a few bucks to put towards that steak dinner that your father deserves.

This is the 18th year that the sidewalks have been turned into masterpieces in and around Paseo Colorado in Pasadena, and this year thousands are expected to step on the masterpieces. Organizers expect at least 500 chalk artists to recreate famous paintings in chalk and create their own original artwork.

If You're Headed To The Rose Bowl, It's Going To Cost A Pretty Penny

December 14, 2009 at 10:14 AM | by | Comments (2)

Just in case you forgot over the weekend, we’re here to remind you that tickets to the BCS National Championship Game between Texas and Alabama go on sale tomorrow. If you’re able to get a pair of tickets—or more—you’ll still need to get your cheering section to the big game in Pasadena. Several airlines including JetBlue, Southwest, Delta, and Continental have added flights to the Los Angeles area to help meet fan demand. Too bad Virgin America hasn’t made their decision regarding a possible new route from Texas—now would be a great time.

If you’re coming to see your Longhorns do battle, you’ll have to shell out some cash—about $500—and you’ll have to connect depending on your choice of carrier. We really think we saw a deal on US Airways this morning for under $250, but as we tried to book it, the fare magically started to dance upwards. JetBlue will get you from Austin to Long Beach and load you up on free snacks without a stop, but it will cost $704 per person. These fares are for the day before the game, January 6, with a return on January 9.

How To Get Tickets To The 2010 Rose Bowl

December 9, 2009 at 11:07 AM | by | Comments (0)

Things in Pasadena are going to be pretty busy during the first week of 2010. Besides the annual Rose Bowl and Rose Parade, there’s also going to be another pretty big game being played about a week later. This year’s BCS National Championship Game between Alabama and Texas will also be played at American’s stadium on January 7. We know you probably want to get it on all the flowery fun, so here’s a few tips to get your tickets to the big games.

The best way to get tickets is to know a little old lady from Pasadena. Residents of the SoCal city get the hook up when it comes to access to scoring seats. Local fans lined up last weekend for a shot to get tickets to both the Rose Bowl Game and the BCS National Championship Game. They didn’t get a discount, but calling a long lost friend in the area is a better way to buy tickets than simply handing over your wallet to the scalpers.

LA Galaxy Playing FC Barcelona This Weekend at Rose Bowl

July 29, 2009 at 4:49 PM | by | Comment (1)

Los Angeles is Dodgertown, meaning that locals have plenty of reason to be enthused about home runs, hot dogs, and post-game drinks at The Short Stop. But sports fans should remember that there are other athletic past times well worth buying tickets for. If you've yet to see David Beckham "bend it" in person, seize the opportunity to do so this weekend, when the LA Galaxy takes on FC Barcelona in what's sure to be an epic match at Pasadena's Rose Bowl. Spaniards take soccer seriously, after all, but Galaxy players are no competitive slumps themselves.

Heidi And Spencer, Actually Married This Time

April 27, 2009 at 9:32 AM | by | Comments (0)

We know you were just hanging onto your monitors all weekend to find out: After three years, 800 fights and two near-misses, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt actually tied the knot this weekend in a Pasadena church, and they made sure everyone was watching.

The bride wore Monique Lhuillier and Neil Lane jewels and walked down the aisle behind her sister Holly, a featured character on "The Hills" who once tried to make Heidi choose between her and Spencer. Both sets of parents were also in attendance and US that Lauren Conrad herself showed, although surely MTV is keeping that detail under its veil before the wedding's inevitable airing on "The Hills"' fifth season. Other visitors from the Hillsiverse: Brody and girlfriend Jayde, Frankie, Audrina, Lo and straight from "Laguna Beach," Kristin Cavallari.

Heidi And Spencer To Wed This Weekend in Pasadena

Where: 1757 N Lake Ave. [map], Pasadena, CA, United States
April 22, 2009 at 9:00 AM | by | Comments (0)

Break out the extra-special flashbulbs: The celebrity couple we love to hate is tying the knot -- again. They went through with it in Mexico then chickened out in Beverly Hills on the finale of last season's "Hills,", but Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag must be serious about their relationship now, because they've accidentally-on-purpose leaked the church where the wedding they've been held to all and sundry. Guess that couples' counseling made them develop faster than a one-hour photo machine.

It's amazing that the two have enough time to plan a wedding, leak Heidi's latest single to the Internets, shoot annoying photos and cast a crop of girls for their new reality series. Currently called "American Girls," the show announced its ungodly presence in the form of flyers last week on the USC campus. We can only assume it's a "Tough Love"-style self-improvement show, because who doesn't want to take advice from these two goons?

'Brothers and Sisters' Reunite in Pasadena

February 2, 2009 at 9:26 AM | by | Comments (0)

“Brothers and Sisters”, a.k.a. the show that makes us grateful we're an only child, is filming on Lombardy Road in Pasadena, Calif. today. An upscale residential neighborhood, Lombardy is located just one block south of Huntington Library’s Botanical Gardens.

Housing a large collection of rare books and manuscripts in the fields of British and American literature, the library has become a treasure for academics and book collectors. Their gallery also contains one of the most comprehensive collections of 18th- and 19th-century British and French art in the U.S.

In addition, the Botanical Gardens are a delight to the community, covering 120 acres, they include dozens of specialized gardens like the Desert Garden, the Japanese Garden, the Rose Garden, and the Chinese garden, all situated in a park-like setting throughout the library's lawn. The Huntington Library is open Wed-Mon until 4:30 p.m., adult admission is $15.00.

And here's a shocker, Gossip Girl is filming on the Upper East Side of Manhattan today. Filming permits were spotted along Central Park on 5th Ave, Madison Ave, and E 72nd.

"Chuck" Draws Blood

December 3, 2008 at 12:00 PM | by | Comments (0)

We have more “Law and Order” news to report! The original L & O will be filming at the American Museum of Natural History today. They recently opened The Polar Rink, the first skating rink at the museum since it opened 140 years ago. This isn’t just any skating rink; it's made from a recyclable synthetic surface and is located on the museum’s Arthur Ross Terrace.

On the west coast, "Chuck" is filming outside of the local Red Cross Chapter on Madeline Drive in Pasadena, California. Perhaps becoming a regular blood donor will be part of Chuck's five year plan?

If you have any tips about where movies or TV shows are filming, send them our way at tips@jaunted.com.

Movie Set Travel: Step Brothers

July 25, 2008 at 8:45 AM | by | Comments (0)

It's time to beat the blazing, uncomfortable days of summer with a little humor, and Will Ferrell-style laughs are a good choice. Our favorite love-handled man is back with John C. Reilly in "Step Brothers," opening today.

The two play spoiled rich adult men (translation: they act like 12-year-olds) whose single parents get married, sparking a competition between Brennan (Will) and Dale (John). Of course it involves pranks, antics and shots of both flabby dudes in bathing suits, which is always worth a cheap laugh.

This one was shot in LA, but also in a fun, laid-back spot outside the city: Pasadena. No longer a city entirely made up of little old ladies, we offer you some cool things to check out there:

Shopping in SoCal: Where Celebs Get Their Flea Market Fix

Where: 1001 Rose Bowl Drive [map], Pasadena, CA, United States, 91103
March 11, 2008 at 12:06 PM | by | Comments (0)

The Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, California is one of the most popular flea markets in the country. The bargain shopper's paradise is held every second Sunday of the month in and around the Rose Bowl stadium from the special VIP opening time of 5 am until 4:30 pm.

The market has pretty much everything you can imagine for sale from antique sewing machines to 1950s furniture to African beads, vintage clothes, china, old records, old-school toys (My Little Ponies, Karate Kid figurines), appliances and our fave, shabby chic decor.

While the crowds really start to pack in around 11 am, we suggest going early--like at 8 am--if you want to spot celebrities. That's what we did and we spied "Grey's Anatomy" star, T. R. Knight getting some cash out of the ATM while his new boyfriend waited patiently. That's our stalkerazzi shot above.
