And You Won't Have to Shoot a Buffalo to Get There

Your oxen are tired, you're running out of food and little Jimmy has dysentery. Better pull full speed ahead for the Willamette River! Modern-day followers of the Oregon Trail won't hear that catchy tune our Apple IIgs used to play whenever we finished a game, but they can explore the trail history at the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Oregon City, a tiny museum crammed with old weapons and "lifelike" figures representing local history.

Of course, locating the "end" of what is only a generally marked trail is a little dicey, and several other cities in Oregon have their own end-of-trail landmarks. But do any of those cities have giant covered wagons to mark the spot? And is there a museum under those giant covered wagons? Enough said; circle up!
