The Compleat Angler, the Bahamian hotel where Ernest Hemingway lived for three years and where he wrote To Have and Have Not, was destroyed by a fire last week. Julian Brown, an employee whose family owned the hotel, died in the blaze. Also lost was a great deal of Hemingway memorabilia, including autographed books and photographs.
