'The Guilt Trip' Takes Audiences Across the U.S. Without Ever Leaving Malibu

The Guilt Trip features all the components of a great road trip movie—a steak eating contest, a stop at the Grand Canyon, and endless hours gabbing in the car—but, there's just one catch: it was shot almost entirely in Malibu, CA.

The movie's star, Barbra Streisand, would only agree to join the cross-country flick if it was entirely filmed within 45 minutes of her Malibu home. The concession meant that most of the iconic locations in the movie, like the Grand Canyon, were filmed in a sound stage (specially built in Malibu) using green screen.

And the Most Popular Memorial Day Spot for Celebs Was...

Memorial Day isn't just the kick off of summer; it's also the official start of the celebrity vacation season, and so far, it looks like it's going to be a busy one. Love birds Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez didn't waste anytime enjoying the long weekend in Maui, where they were spotted sharing some PDA during their Hawaiian vacation on Friday.

Meanwhile, plenty of celebs spent the weekend on European vacations too. Like Mad Man's Christina Hendricks, who showed off her curves near a swimming pool in Lake Como, Italy while Kim Kardashian showed off her new $2 million dollar engagement ring on a yacht in Monaco.

Sookie and Bill of 'True Blood' Choose Malibu for Their Real-Life Wedding

This last weekend held more surprises for fans of HBO's hit show "True Blood" than just the revelations of the newest episode; the stars of the vampire thriller—Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse and Stephen Moyer as Bill Compton—wed on Saturday in Malibu, California.

The couple met on the True Blood set and begin dating early into the first season, but did not reveal their relationship until last year. Devoted True Blood fans would have said that the chemistry between Sookie the waitress and Bill the vampire was palpable, but the real-life wedding of the actors takes it to a new level.

So what lovely destination did the couple choose for their secret wedding? A friend's house, right on the surf in Malibu, set the stage for the purple-themed ceremony. The only True Blood co-star who showed was Carrie Preston, who plays the harried waitress Arlene on the show.

While Leonardo DiCaprio chose to celebrate the Fourth of July at a South African game preserve and Matt Damon spent the weekend playing poker in Vegas, most of their celebrity colleagues stayed close to home for the holiday weekend.

Celebs like Jim Carrey, who was spotted holding his grandson Jackson, Tom Hanks, Debra Messing, Sean Penn, Reese Witherspoon, David Spade, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Tim Robbins all got into the holiday spirit at various Malibu beach parties this past weekend.

Malibu is The Ultimate Styacation For Celebs

Celebrities really are just like us. They go to their friend’s houses for Memorial Day parties too, the only difference is, they are greeted by a valet and a swarm of paparazzi, while we’re parking on the lawn and fighting off swarms of mosquitoes.

Some A-Listers chose to get away for the weekend, like Cameron Diaz who was spotted on a beach in Hawaii and TomKat who spent their weekend honoring veterans in Washington D.C., but most stayed home to attend one of the year’s biggest events, Joel Silver’s Memorial Day Party in Malibu. Silver is a major Hollywood player, producing movies like "The Matrix" and "Lethal Weapon" and by the looks of who attended his soiree, no one wants to get on his bad side.

Tara Reid Once Again Loosed Upon The World

Time for "Taradise 2"? (Oh please, please, please.) Tara Reid is fresh outta rehab and reveals it was a trip she took last November that sent her there in the first place.

Reid entered Promises Malibu, the place that fixed Mel Gibson, on December 12 for unspecified issues. In an interview with In Touch, the actress said her trip to Israel was the impetus to go to rehab: After encountering the Western Wall in Jerusalem, she realized "I like alcohol but it didn't like me" and decided to change.

Truly, we'd take a "Taradise" with a slightly healthier spin. Maybe she could ease back into TV with E!'s new project "Hot Girls In Scary Places," in which good-looking women go to haunted houses and freak out attractively. Then again, we'd want some liquid courage to face the paranormal...

A "Dollhouse" In Malibu While "Cupid" Now Hearts Queens

According to a tipster, the upcoming ABC series, "Cupid," is filming on 47th Avenue in Sunnyside, Queens, a nabe on the west side of the borough where the area's residents are no strangers to location shoots or celebrities. Scenes in "Spiderman", "Raising Helen", and even parts of the video game "Grand Theft Auto IV" were based in Sunnyside. The region has also been home to a number of entertainers from Ethel Merman to The Ramones.

In a warmer climate, the buzzed about "Dollhouse," from Joss Whedon, is shooting on Zuma Beach in Malibu today. Debuting on Fox next month, it's a sci-fi series about a group called "The Dolls" who have had their memories wiped clean so they can take on any number of new personas.

Malibu's famous beaches have also long been a home base for celebs. Recent residents include, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Pamela Anderson and Gwen Stefani. Zuma Beach itself is open to the public and offers the usual SoCal fun, like swimming, surfing, fishing and diving.

Tara Reid's Rehab Clinic?

Oh, it's been so long since we were on the rehab beat! After telling People in October that she didn't "need to do any of that anymore," "American Pie" actress and former travel reporter Tara Reid checked into Promises Treatment Center on Friday for an unspecified problem.

Promises is a celeb favorite favored by Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan -- it's also where Mel Gibson retired to after his 2006 accident and anti-Semitic outburst. Not quite the Christmas alternative we're looking for... Get well soon, Tara!

We were shocked--shocked--to see Matthew McConaughey, Our Lord Of Perpetual Bare-Chestedness, with a covered torso on a recent surfing trip in Malibu. The famously shirtless new dad covered up with a neoprene top that he paired with board shorts in a fashion move that probably puzzled the paparazzi out of harassing him.

Where is the Polaroid Beach House?

Half way through August and we haven't mentioned the Polaroid Beach House in Malibu. However, Carmen Electra's carefully orchestrated bikini strip, filmed by everyone, and shown everywhere, reminded us that our readers were inquiring about the billionaire beach house earlier this summer.

This summer the house has obviously seen less of Lindsay Lohan, however, the Entourage cast and crew hosted a screening party for their current season there -- complete with large screen HD televisions, bbq style food, and plenty of booze.

What is the Polaroid Beach House?

I am traveling to LA. Can I go?
Probably not. It is invite only, though you can walk there from a public beach, but if the tide is in you might get stuck. More likely than having to swim for it? Security intercepts and boots you long before you get to the house. However, if you are carrying a zoom lens camera and look like a weekly rag photographer, security might let you gather with the rest of the always present photogs.

Coffee Talk: Diedrich Coffee

If you've visited Los Angeles or have had the misfortune to live there for a while, you know about the town's triumverate of coffee chains--Starbucks, Coffee Bean and Peet's Coffee.

But there's a chain out there that's better than all of them, for several reasons but great coffee and free wireless are among the top.

Diedrich Coffee is a product of Orange County where the company's headquarters started back in the 1970. However, this isn't just some old coffee shop that expanded.

Nope, the Diedrich family began their coffee obsession back in the early 1900s when the matriarch, Charlotte, inherited a coffee plantation in Costa Rica. From then on her sons and grandsons took over the business, starting up a new plantation in Guatemala and then expanding the coffee shops across Orange County.

Today there's about 23 locations in the OC and randomly, they also have a three locations in Denver and three in Texas.

Up in LA County, the Diedrich's in Malibu is a local favorite. Located across the street from the celebrity and paparazzi-ridden Malibu Country Mart (this is where Britney was driving away from with Sean P. on her lap), Diedrich's is quiet and small, but there's enough room to sit down with your laptop for an hour of free wireless, with a purchase of course.

And you will want to purchase a drink here because they are delicious and fresh. Not some mass-created junk like a frappucino. Our fave? A mocha latte with whip cream and pieces of freshly shaved chocolate sprinkled on top.

Insider Tip: If you can't handle the trek to Malibu up the Pacific Coast Highway (which can get crowded), then check out the other Diedrich location in Santa Monica on Montana Avenue. [Update: This location as of Jan. 3, 2007 is closed]
