Milla Jovovich Pays Tribute to Adam Yauch at LAX

May 7, 2012 at 3:10 PM | by | Comments (0)

Milla Jovovich paid a personal tribute to Adam Yauch at LAX yesterday.

The Resident Evil star sported a faded Beastie Boys t-shirt while boarding a flight out of Los Angeles. Yauch, a member of the Beastie Boys and leader in the cause for Tibetan freedom, died Friday after a three-year battle with salivary gland cancer.

Apparently faded t-shirts are the new favorite fashion for flying celebs. On Sunday, Kristen Stewart was also spotted at the LAX in a worn striped tee as she caught a flight to NYC for tonight's Met Costume Institute Ball.

Alaska Airlines Has Sweet New Digs at LAX

April 5, 2012 at 9:16 AM | by | Comments (0)

Better double check those airport departure and arrival signs if you’re off to LAX anytime soon, as there’s a couple carriers on the move. The biggest news comes from Alaska Airlines, as they just cut the ribbon to welcome travelers to their renovated and rehabbed Terminal 6.

The airline is calling their new terminal home the “Airport of the Future.” We probably wouldn’t go that far—especially since there’s no place to park your flying car—but the new upgraded space does look pretty darn nice.

The big change within the terminal is how you’ll go about checking-in for your flight, and that obviously assumes that you’ve haven’t already done so online. When you arrive at the terminal the traditional check-in counters are few and far between, as they’ve been replaced with circular pods that have touchscreen computers ready to go to assist you through the check-in process.

Betty White and a Snake Zoo. What Could Go Wrong?

February 15, 2012 at 4:40 PM | by | Comments (0)

The Los Angeles Zoo has been quite the flurry of activity over the last few months. Their new $2.5 million carousel opened last October, giving the zoo a more festive feel and driving revenue toward conservation. Then the zoo opened its new $42 million Elephants of Asia exhibit last December, irking radical animal rights activists and delighting pretty much everybody else.

Now the LA Zoo is unveiling another huge new exhibit. This time it's a reptile house dubbed LAIR (Living Amphibian, Invertebrates, and Reptiles) that they've been working on for years. The building will be home to over 60 species: snakes, frogs, lizards, and iguanas. There's even going to be an underwater viewing area.

LAX's Newest Arrival is a Gang of 125,000 Rare Butterflies

February 15, 2012 at 3:07 PM | by | Comments (0)

There’s something new to check out on your next trip to or through Los Angeles International, and you might just be able to find it right around the airport. It’s not a new hot dog stand or frozen yogurt spot—although they have those too—but it is a little slice of nature.

The El Segundo Blue Butterfly has seen better days, but it looks like it has started to find a brand new home near LAX. The little blue bug is making itself comfortable in the area surrounding the airport, within the 200-acre area that’s known as the Dunes Habitat Preserve. There’s a bunch of them too, as the recent count puts the population around like 125,000. It’s quite an improvement from when counts began back in the 1970s, as at that time there were only 500 of the butterflies at most.

BREAKING: Universal Studios Hollywood to Get Its Very Own Wizarding World of Harry Potter

December 1, 2011 at 3:32 PM | by | Comments (0)

Not gonna lie—our June 2010 visit to the opening of Universal Studios Orlando's Wizarding World of Harry Potter is definitely a highlight of our travels from the last few years. To some that might sound perfectly stupid since we're adults and can just as easily jet off to Phuket as to Orlando, but to those who've been and also found themselves similarly taken in, the sentiment is shared.

That's why today's news that Universal Studios Hollywood will get a Wizarding World of its own in 2014 or 2015 is so thrilling. That means, if all goes according to plan, that in a span of five years the United States will have become home to two Harry Potterlands selling chocolate frogs, running roller coasters and otherwise thumbing their nose at the UK, which doesn't even have one to call its own.

A Grueling Year Sends Katy Perry and Russell Brand Back to India for New Year's

November 10, 2011 at 1:02 PM | by | Comments (0)

After weeks apart, Russell Brand waited patiently outside LAX for Katy Perry to arrive home yesterday.

Katy, who has been on tour in the UK, looked out of place getting into the couple's car wearing a long puffy jacket in the warm Los Angeles weather. Alas, it seemed she was more interested in giving her husband a smooch hello than her wardrobe, as she leaned in for a kiss as Russell sat in the driver's seat, ready to go.

The couple will only be together for a few days before Katy is on the road again, this time headed to Connecticut for a November 15th gig. Though they have spent a lot of time apart this year, Russell has planned a romantic New Year's getaway with Katy to make up for lost time.

Apparently, the actor has booked a two-week stay in a private pool-suite at the Aman New Delhi Hotel India, not far from where they were married last year, and not a bad way to start the new year.

Seth Rogen Isn't an Airline Pilot, But He Plays One in His New Movie

November 8, 2011 at 2:57 PM | by | Comments (0)

Seth Rogen might not have a pilot's license, but in his new movie he plays someone who does. The funnyman is currently filming For A Good Time Call, about two girls who start a phone sex line and their various callers, in Los Angeles.

The movie was written by his wife Lauren Miller, who also appears in Good Time. Together, the couple decided to make Seth's character an airline pilot because they thought pilots were the type of people who call sex hotlines:

We were figuring what kind of people would actually call phone sex lines and we thought airplane pilots probably do. They’re on the road a lot.

Lauren and Seth might think the concept is funny, but we doubt many pilots out there will feel the same.

For A Good Time Call is expected to land in theaters next year.

Twilight at LAX: Stars Return to LA to Promote 'Breaking Dawn'

November 3, 2011 at 11:12 AM | by | Comments (0)

Yesterday Kristen Stewart was spotted landing at LAX with a cast on her right hand. She looked tired after the long flight from London, where she is currently filming Snow White and the Huntsman. Kristen was reportedly injured on set a couple of weeks ago, but was back to work within a few days.

Kristen is reuniting with her Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in Los Angeles to promote the film which hits theaters November 18.

This morning all three will participate in a handpint-footprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Blvd, followed by a Q & A session with MTV later this afternoon.

This weekend they will also make appearances at The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 Official Fan Convention at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. And though it might be too late to catch the cast at Graumann's, there are still tickets available for the convention which can be purchased here.
