Destination: Silver K Cafe

When you think of Texas Hill Country, maybe you think of rolling highways, lone goats, and er, W. We think of Silver K Cafe in Johnson City. Having just returned from a trip to the Hill Country, we can safely attest that we ate our weight in the restaurant's amazing Honey Pecan Fried Chicken, Frito Pie, and Chicken Fried Steak.

Located just off the tiny Texas town's old lumber yard, Silver K Cafe's entrance is draped in cool Mexican lanterns, twinkly lights, and metal sculptures. Inside you'll find wide, wooden tables, no frills flatware, and an honest staff, willing to tell you exactly what they think about the specials, or the Rangers.

Stuck waiting outside for a table? Sip on a glass of prickly pear iced tea and watch the deer cruise by.
