Surf Cities Fighting for Good Vibes, Profits

Huntington Beach and Santa Cruz are vying for the title of Surf City -- and for the royalties and increased tourism that such a name might bring. The 1963 hit was written by Jan and Dean with help from Brian Wilson. The song writers and performers (or their heirs) stand to get a cut if Huntington succeeds in laying claim to Surf City USA. Santa Cruz, in retaliation, is going for Original Surf City USA.
