New York City food truck fiends (ah hem, like us) won't want to miss the sixth annual Vendy Awards, the Oscars of the street food scene, on September 25 at Governors Island. Vendy finalists, who are chosen by public vote, square off in a competition for the coveted Silver Vendy Cup. The nominees include Bistro Truck, which serves Moroccan fare; El Rey del Sabor, a Mexican vendor; two-time nominee The King of Falafel and Shawarma, which dishes out Middle Eastern eats; Patacon Pisao, the city's first Venezuelan truck; and Schnitzel & Things, an Austrian peddler that was the 2009 Rookie of the Year.
